Fucking incredible ....could listen to that all day every day.

Just knowing that someone has accomplished that level of mastery is a marvel to observe. I think he rules.

he mixes alot of legato hammer and pull-offs with chicken pickin...he rarely does them together and when he does it is a blur! he doesn't use his pinky much either, I like the bends and pull-offs he was doing...I'm gonna steal those licks from him...

I LOVE watching him!!! His facility on the guitar is limitless. I watched him play a fretless guitar doing slide blues stuff and he soundied like a 100 year old black man playing the Blues, then he went into Holdsworth stuff like it was remedial reading for an English Professor, then chicken pickin country stuff... AHHH the boy is impressive to say the least.

He's really, really good. It's like "shred-style" with taste. I prefer a much more straight ahead blues approach personally but he's definitely enjoyable to watch.

He's a good Scott Henderson type of player,
but not my cup of tea. Sorry guys, I don't care
for that type of feel/playing, I just don't feel the vibe.

Me likes this:

That's cool...but GG has them all beat by miles and miles in their own style....
They were OK for their time...But GG is the new apex.....And I don't think anyone will top him in any style for decades to come...
I can assure you he will go down as an icon...

I almost cried!

and this is cool:

And the reason GG isn't in G3 is due to the fact that he's make all of them look like chumps....:D
And I love all 3 of them.....GG is just on a way higher level....And I honestly don't think GG is anything like SH other than the fact that he can play anything Scott ever came up with and more...and I love SH...:D

Not everyone likes the same thing.

That Trower one was nice...that's what I meant it would be cool to hear Guthrie slow it down and feel it like that. ;)

I used to have this on vinyl as a kid.

You're not alone. I prefer each of those guys to GG. But GG's technical ability and the way he makes it look so effortless...that's pretty entertaining and amazing in its own right.

But if you do a little research, you will find many GG recordings of slow and emotional stuff that will blow you away. He's only about 10% technique IMHO....The rest is complete command of the instrument, and emotional feel.

I would rather hear him slow down, and let all the notes
come through individually, and put more soul into it.
IMO, there's really only one fast player who pulls it off at speed,
and thats this guy http://youtube.com/watch?v=iPtLcfkrPIE
I don't know why, but when I listen to any fast playing after this clip
I can't get into it. I'm not a shread fan by any means,
but Malmsteen's playing really takes it for me. Alcatraz anyone?
He's unreal. Doug
