Since I had to sell my TAT and get a cheaper guitar, I got lucky and scored this Explorer for $700. Got to play it through my 5150 for a bit, and it sounds great. Nice huge tone with a great crunch from the 500T, and the 496R is really smooth sounding in the neck. Definitely one of my favorite pickup combos. It's nice to have an Explorer back. :)

I was too tired from shoveling dirt all day, so I only took one quick picture.

nice. i had the sg. best neck I've ever played.

It's been about a year since I last played an Explorer, but for some reason this neck feels slightly thinner than my old ones? It's still a thick neck, but I guess it might be from me playing the Caparison necks so much, which are also thick necks.

Indeed you should. :D

I've been really starting to like the Voodoo Explorer recently, but they sell for way too much. There's one on Ebay, but it's already up over $1000.

Welcome back to the world of Explorers!

...even if it is black :D

As soon as I plugged it in I remembered why I love these things so much.

Nice!

Why have you been digging so much? Are you spending your summer vacation digging trenchs or something?

Haha, more like filling them in. My dad just had our garage bricked, so we've been filling back in all the dirt around the sides. We've been doing that since Saturday, and there's still a bit more to fill in. Complete pain in the ass. :aww:

Lesson learned: never (ever) get rid of an Explorer!

This is my third one.

I don't remember the 500T sounding so good in B tuning before. Maybe the ebony board is the difference?

Totally Mega, I've got a gothic V and whatever it is about it - it sounds much better than my regular gibby V, much more thick and chunky with the right amount of bite.

Yeah man, that's exactly how this Explorer sounds. All mahogany with an ebony board seems to be an awesome combo.
