VH4-S - half power for more power amp saturation?

Hello!

Is it possible to remove one power tube per side or would that damage the amp? If it's possible - would I just have to remove the tubes or also the fuses?

(I know, most of you don't see any reason for getting more power amp saturation but I would like to try... furthermore, I also would like to use the poweramp of the head with some different preamps and I can imagine that it helps getting the tone I'm looking for)

Impossible with a VH4S.

Use Tonebones or something - or wait for Schmidt, Norbert.

Isn't there the protection system which is activated when a tube is broken, so that one is able to go on? In this case the amp only works with one tube on the side where the tube is broken, or am I wrong?

So wouldn't it be possible to activate this protection system consciously by removing one tube and the fuse? If not, why?

In the case of VH4S only I think that if a tube fails this power amp channel is disabled, so you continue playing with the other 50 watts section.

You have sound with just one tube, but it don´t sounds good.

It says for the mono VH4 that when a tube fails the pair goes out. A VH4S is actually a preamp section with 2 50w poweramps. Each poweramp has only two tubes. A single EL34 or 6L6 cannot operate a channel so the channel goes out. It's like switching off the one of the 2 standby switches.

I'm a fan of the DR Z Air Brake (licensed by Trainwreck), but never used with a Diezel. They're expensive so having to run a pair for a VH4S is a double hit. However my experience with them on Fender and Marshall amps was awesome having the least effect on tone of any attenuator I've ever heard and it is not impedance limited.

Just take out the fuse
