Man that sounds like a fun unit! I've been curious about them for awhile but have never even seen one to try out. Might have to put that on the preamp list :D

I highly reccomend checking one out.

HOWEVER! You really need to spend some time with it and read the manual first. I think if I had checked one out in a store without having an understanding of how it worked, I would have probably written it off as not that great :P

Hey, McTallica, from readin your posts in the past, we seem to have the same taste in tone (at least close and we seem to be looking for the same things). Do you think that this thing, with a good power amp and cabs, would be able to produce heavy, yet clear and articulate tones for down-tuned guitars, say in A# and B, when miced up? Think Sevendust Animosity or Seasons, or Dark New Day, or even Nickelback's The Long Road Home. I tune down but use a lot of open tunings, so I use "big," "acoustic"-style chords, in my choruses. We have 2 guitarists, and I really need something heavy, yet obviously very clean, clear and articulate.

Sorry for the long-winded question, and if you need songs to referance, let me know and i can give you a link....maybe take a listen to the music at my band's myspace page in my profile to hear what I mean. Like I said, tight, clear, clean and articulate, but it would be nice to be able to get those "sludgy" loose crankked vintage Marshall kinda tones as well.

Ha, thanks

Jordon

I can't say for sure on the low tuning thing as I have only been tuning to standard and Drop D lately

I'm more concerned about the clarity with big open chords then anything since I use them so much.

Sorry....I misunderstood!

I was actually playing a D, G, C open chord thing the other day and my wife (who has become even more critical than me ) waddled her pregnant self downstairs to tell me it sounded really good.

Open chords with clarity work well.

Truthfully, there isn't anything I have looked for (in the SHORT time I have had the unit) that I haven't found.....it may have taken some serious effort looking into the various pages of tweakability, but it has been there. And I have been pushing the boundries more than a little.

I will be back home Friday and will be experimenting some more

I think I may have to just take a shot and grab one up. If it is that authentic sounding to tubes (and I definately have become a tube snob), and it can do all that, then I dont see how I could go wrong really.

If I were you, I would buy it through on eof the big houses that have a return policy.

The thing is so damn deep that I could see some people getting frustrated with it before finding what they are looking for....and it is pretty easy to make it sound liek shite if you make a mistake or 2

What I have started doing is: as soon as I tweak to something kinda good, I save it. then tweak some more and there is a "compare" button that lets you switch back and forth between the saved tone and the current...I A/B between the tones and save the better one..I f I really like both, I just save them both!

Also, check out the HC reviews for the Prophesy and Prophesy II. I got some got some good tips from them on potential areas of difficulty.

I am still going through the manual and those reviews regularly to see what I may have missed. ;)

When I got home from my business trip yesterday, the VHT 2/50/2 was waiting for me....Got chance to hook it up and play for a little while last night.

The Prophesy II sounds quite a bit different through it than it did through the JVM loop. First off, I am running it true stereo now and some of the time bassed effects sound KILLER when panned one way or the other.

I need to retweak some of the patches I made. I actually had 2 set up to be sort of SS sounding and the VHT took all that away. It is so warm and full sounding.

I can also adjust the volume of each channel to even out the cabs.... The VHT cab with MC90's was louder than the Voodoo Cab with v30's...now they are really a blend.

Oh yeah...I hated the Mustaine patches through the JVM... Through the VHT, I see some potential

Not really fair to compare a GREAT stereo power amp to using a loop on a head, but it is what I had prior to the VHT :)

You didnt like the mustaine patches through the JVM?

Are the marshall poweramps anything like the JVM poweramp by any chance?

You're making me want to go rack again! I was only just happy that I'm going to save for a JVM... decisions...

No I didn't care for them through the JVM loop at all. Still not sure I would use them, even through the VHT, btu they sound MUCH better through it.

Can't comment on the Marshall poweramps vs the JVM as I haven't had one in a long time.

I love the Prophesy II.

HOT DAMN!

I decided to mess with the ocmpressor a bit this evening..... what a great tool!

I took a few of the patches that I have tweaked and tried various compressor settings and..>VERY NICE!

I think I will be finding new tones in this thing for a loooooong time

Here is what i deal with in the Digitech 2101 effects wise

Could you tell me is the Prophesy
has All these Controls to work with before i Buy one
im just Picking My Brain
because ive gotten so use to them id Most Likely Suck
if i dident have them

Holy crap...I'm not reading all that

What I can tell you is that tooling around the prophesy II is pretty damn easy once you understand how the controls work. Pllus there are buttons on the front that let you jump directly to the first page of any function, so you don't have to scrolll through all the pages to get where you want to go.
