Heya folks - just got a used Ecstasy Classic and would like to maybe replace some tubage. Anyone got any pointers on how to bias the beastie?

IMHO, the easiest way of doing it is to get a bias rite. Then all you have to do is take the amp out, put in the tubes, set the bias and put it back in.

Neat. I have wondered about these, and the diagrams make it seem pretty easy to use. Greazygeo walked me through using a DMM to do the bias, but I'd certainly appreciate how easy this thing seems to make it.

I have an XTC as well, and other 100 and 50 watt amps. Can you suggest the best model of bias rite that coudl be used for most any amp? I would assume the 4 socket model...Is the "octal" model the one to get for EL34 adn 6L6 tubes?

Thanks

Thanks

I've got a 4 socket model with the VI option or whatever and biasing is very easy with it. My other guitarist has used it to bias his SLO, 800 and badcat with no probs, too.

I suggest the 4 socket model as there will be less monkeying around with your 100 watt heads. Get the VI option as well. The for EL34s and 6L6s, the octal is what you want. I biased my amps for years with a DMM... it's a lot easier and safer with the bias rite.

Nice - the bias rite looks like the ticket. I wouldn't mind going the DMM route though. Rayneman, got any tips? did you get a writeup from Greazygeo or did he actually talk you through it? I think I just need to know where the test points are and where to adjust, yes?

Thanks guys...
