I boosted this thing with the onboard tube OD in the Axe-FX. I ran it in the loop. I also added the delay via the Axe-FX after the recording was done for
the lead sound. The rhythms are bone dry.

For some reason, I don't seem to be able to find a good balance between
making the rhythms really stand out as well as the lead guitar. I either get
too much of one or the other...

What do you guys think? Pardon the stock crappy wankage please!

All opinions and comments welcome... Even if they are only how nice my
butt looks today!

Very nice! Do you think your Axe-FX could replace your SD-1? As far as what you mean in terms of lead/rhythm, I find that a problem with my JCM800 as well. I generally dial in my rhythm tone and it can create a "workable" lead tone by adding things like delay.

Sounds good man, makes me really want to buy that JMP on Ebay, but I can't. :aww:

Oh shoot yes it can... And thank you... I can get both good lead and rhythm tones live... It is getting both to stand out in a mix that drives me nutz!

I think the Axe-FX just using the tube OD model like I did on this one makes
a killer lead sound for me... It has SD-1 models as well as a host of other stomp box models as well but I honestly haven't tried them out yet... I tend
to find a couple of what are really good sounding things to me and just stick with them.

Thanks Mark,
I say find a way and go for it... The 50 watter will break up on quicker than
my 100 will. The 50's also seem to sound a bit more saturated to my ears all
across the Marshall line than do the 100's.

I really do think you would love the JMP amps for the Maiden kinda stuff you wanna do... Mix that in with the 5150 and you will have a KILLER combo!

sounds like old Queensryche...but the drummer has somehow smoked too much crack...

As soon as I can afford to pick one up, I'm going to. That probably wont be for a while though. And I'll need a nice Strat to go with it of course. :D

Why not just increase the volume on the lead? You could do it Malmsteen style. Walk up to the amp and crank it. Seriously, just try increasing the volume.

The next gear purchase of mine will be an Axe-FX Ultra. I can't wait until I get the money. I'm pretty sure it'll replace just about everything I have, and will be more than anything I'll ever need. People were telling me the tuner is about as accurate as the Peterson StroboStomp, too!

That is a Queensryche drum track! One I put together although from Scott's
samples!!!!!! This JMP had a Rich mod master volume and a really good FX
loop installed when I bought it. Seems to work pretty good for me without sucking much tone.

When you do, I really think you will like it. I paid 800 bones for this one and it is in really good shape. It has a few tolex scratches and a couple of quarter and 50 cent sized piece tears on the bottom of the head but, I wanna play it not stick it in a museum, so that doesn't bother me at all...lol

I mean finding a good balance between the rhythms crunch and the leads tone in the mix... I can easily make one louder than the other. I just want
them both to stand out... Equally. Maybe that is impossible with my cheapo
recording setup though.

I used to do the Malmsteen thing when I was playing Plexi's live...lol

BTW the tuner is SUPER accurate on this thing! All the fx are simply stellar!

Yeah, I don't care about the condition, as long as it works fine and sounds good. My 5150 is all haggard and shit anyways.

This may be my favorite clip of yours to date, Gary. Even the patented abrupt ending was pretty smooth.

Thank you VERY much Bob! I usually just make a drum track long enough to get what I want down or I cut things where I screw up...lol... That does explain the abrupt endings! But I like having the patent and license to use it!

Same here. This sounds significantly better than any of your others that I can remember. The playing is good, too. GREAT SUCCESS.

At this point, I wouldn't want it any other way!

Well shoot! I need to stop using mastering software and do it only by my own ears then. This is only normalized... There is no additive or subtractive eq'ing going on at all. No Ozone like I usually use. No mastering verb, no anything. Just the mixed down files and then normalized.

BTW thank you very much man!

Looks like I wasted my money on T-Racks and Ozone... :aww:
