Recording a Diez question/need opinion.

What do you guys do as far as eq and or compression. Like in the low mids for example should I compress them in place of cutting to avoid losing any of the awesome-ness of them and if so from where to where in the frequency range. Already from our rough mix at the studio it sounds amazing for a demo recording with all being done is a simple chop of low/high and he scooped a little of the low mids out to avoid a wild low end, but I read on the Andy Sneap forum about how he just compresses rather than takes away, which I would much rather have. Let me know soon because I go in Thursday to do final mix/master...we just did two songs. Friday I'm going to pop some jams up for you to hear too after all of this :D , pure Diezel as well.

Check the frequencies of the bass and the kick drum. Because Herbert has a broader frequency range than more traditional amps, try to cut frequencies which blend with the aforementioned instruments. Now if you do this with a compressor or EQ is up to you I guess and there's no general rule. And keep it as dry as possible. :thumbsup:
 
Alrighty mixing got pushed back to sunday. One more question that's just a mixing question in general, where do you guys set you bass at in the mix, the music isn't really fast paced, so take that into account. Do you like it to have the deep sub lows with the kick on top or sit above the kick, I can't decide so I want some opinion, rough mixes it's a good sound either way...although I don't think I was paying much attention to the bass :lol: . Plus, I like a powerful kick but we had a good powerful one going either way, just one was more cannon-like and one was more meaty and I and the band mates can't decide.
