I got my 7 string from the guitar tech yesterday so I thought a 7 string Deliverance clip was in order. Please be gentle on the lead playing because not having practiced in a few months, my fingers were to sore from the jam last night to even worry about vibrato on this clip.

Wont load for me, Booby--put I am an idiot, so I know its me/my PC.

Man, 7 string recording is really tough IMO. There is something in the tone I'm not diggin'... It kinda reminds me of playing a 7 string through the PeaceMaker, although I know this is a very different amp. Just sounds a bit fuzzy to me and like a 7 string through a vintage style amp. I guess I'm just used to 7 strings sounding so crushing through 5150s and the like...

It was the idiot, here.

Loaded finally--

Great stuff, Savage--as usual. And again, I dig your drums. (and your playing aint too bad either)

Yeah....I think the lead tone is sick!!!! Very nice work!!!!!!

Yep, something sounded like it wasn't getting along IMO.

The rhythm tone is too woofy/muffled sounding. It needs more crunch and bite IMO. I hated how the VHT I had sounded in low tunings. The lead tone in your clip was nice though.

Gonna have to agree. The rhythm sound is missing something, but the lead is searing sweet.

Very nice Bob, good to hear you on a 7 again :D The lead cuts great, a bit murky on the rythmns, but close for my ears.

Hey Bob, sounds nice but I also have problems dialing in a nice tone for the rhythm using a 7 string. I end up with a tone that has a fizzy high end that's very annoying. The lead is great though.

gotta agree with some others here about the rhythm tone, a bit too fuzzy sounding for my tastes...but the lead tone is awesome!

the rhythm tone almost sounds like it was recorded too hot. had a similar thing happen when I first recorded my VHT 50/CL I had for awhile. though, I've not successfully recorded any VHT clips that I like on their own(with the 50 or my 100/CL)...not that I've really spent any time at all. mixed with my other amp it sounds great, which is what matters I guess cause that's how I run them. it does bug me a little though.

Sounds great Bob :)

The low end holds together nicely....

Hey guys, thanks for all the input!

Well, the Deliverance certainly has a vintage vibe to it although on rhythms, I think there's a modern "bark" also, but I know what you're talking about. There's a vintage twang to it that I think is unappealing to many people. I'm not sure I hear the fuzziness, but I know what you're talking about. This tone doesn't have that top end evenly compressed type of tone (although I could get more in the mix by compressing the guitars) like a 5150 or an Engl has.

Thanks Mike. I wish I could claim those drums as my own, but that's John Bonham.

Yes, your hatred of all that is VHT is well documented. I know what it is you're wanting to hear and while I like that tone too, I'm not really unhappy with the way this sounds. I'll make some adjustments going forward like possibly increasing the gain on the amp, etc. I recorded this with more only an SM57, which I don't usually do because I like additional top end but being the first 7 string clip through the amp, I wanted to stick with the basics.

I'm not hearing a lot of fizz in the room, but there's a few things I think need to happen for the next recording. 1) Raise the bridge pickup 2) A slight increase in gain on the amp as well as middle and treble changes and 3) Record with more than just an SM57.

I think part of what's causing some of these comments is the bass tone. The guit was definitely not too hot in the mic pre input or the interface, but the bass guitar has a "woof" to it that I think is blending with and walking on the guitar (or perhaps it's vice verse). I may throw up a mix of just the guitars for you guys to hear, we'll see how lazy I am today. :D

Thanks for specific comments guys, I do appreciate it and while I'm not as unhappy with this tone as it seems most people are, I do need to do some additional sculpting before I'm content with it for 7 string. This amp will never be a 5150, an Engl or an Uberschall (that amp excelled at tunings lower than E, in my opinion), I think I can get to where I want it to be, even if it takes a small boost in front of the amp.

Hey Bob, in my case, the high fizz I know it's the cab. That should get fixed when I get the Deliverance cab. I have to dial a fair bit of treble and mids for my guitar to come through.

If I use my Mesa cab, the high fizz is not there.

As has been said a few times before, the rhythm sounds fizzy and blahh, something not good. The lead tone however, is fucking badass.

sounds pretty nice.
need a bit more bite to the rhythm tone IMO though...

Well, I find myself in the minority here. The rhythm sounds BAD ASS on my system...I really dig it. The lead sounds a tad thin to me...personal taste I guess. As usual, the playing is VERY cool.

Now this clip I loved. That rhythm was nice and THICK, fuckin badass crunch, and blended with the bass perfectly. Sounds pushed and what not. Definitely hear the modern low mids but its got that nice upper end. Really aggressive.

Great great stuff. I'm pretty picky about my tones and this one floats my bubble. :D
