Second channel with boost option has about the gain amount
of channel 2 on the Herbert and channel 3 on the VH4.
Which is plenty! Sounds great! I'm looking forward to this. Sounds like a nice compliment to my Einstein.

I had the pleasure to play this amp on friday, the first.
The clean is awesome. Starts sparkling and warm. Going higher volumewise adds some nice extra warmth from the power section. A very nice breaking up clean. No mud, very clear, but warm.
Channel 2 starts where channel 1 ends and goes into a nice crunch territory. Surprisingly for a Class A not any sign of mud here. Very clear and tight, but from the powersection enough warmth. The best Class A crunch I've ever heard. And then, hitting the boost, a very defined mega-crunch/lead sound. No needs for pedals.
The reverb is a nice on top feature, which supports the warm character of the amp. From ambience character to long hall reverbs. Switchable and assignable to each channel.
I think Peter created another masterpiece. I admit that my knowledge about Class A amps is limited, but I've played a few and have to say: this is the shit. I'm sure both, typical Class A players AND Diezel guys will love this little amp.
It runs with EL34s, 6L6GCs or 6V6GTs - and sounds awesome with all of them (tried EL34s and 6V6GTs). Of course it breaks up with 6V6GTs sooner, but is definitely loud enough to play with your drummer.
We tried it with a Strat, a Tele and a dual-humbucker guitar. This little fucker loves them all.

Very very well done, Peter. (and thanks for letting me check it out).

Thanks Doc Duesi for giving me inspiration for the
fine tuning.

:respek:

Thank you very much for your answer.

I just have a (last) question :

Does the clean channel stays clean at a normal band volume ? And does the boost affects channel 2, or both ?

It's to know if it is possible to switch from a totally clean to a lead sound.

I'd say it stays clean if you don't use powerful humbuckers. We've hooked it to a 4x12" and we were both deaf after the tweaks :D

The boost is for channel 2.

Yes, its possible to switch from clean to lead, which isn't super high gain, but still squeals nicely with a Les Paul à la Zakk (if wanted of course).

How would you compare it to the Einstein?

Is the boost preset or can it be adjusted? Because the biggest problem I find on the Einstein is too much gain on channel 2 even with the gain way down so it isn't really useful for anything but a high gain lead tone.

Oh boy, is this exciting or what?! :)
Great review Olaf.
Congradulations Peter on another classic amp even before it is produced!
I know this last statement defies gravity, but then so does every amp Peter has designed and built!

Thank you Duesentrieb. So this amp is exactly what I'm looking for :) .

It will be available in september, for about 1500-1650 € isn't it ? The issue is I sold my Marshall AVT100 and then I learnt the Schmidt was in development - just before ordering a Brunetti Maranello . So I will have to wait until September with my old Marshal MG15  ! But I'm sure it will be worth the wait...

To switch from a horrible MG15 to a Schmidt will be very funny

Sounds great, exactly what i'm looking for :10/10: . One question: Does it have switchable master volumes?

30 watts with EL34 or 6L6
15 watts with 6V6
Channel 1: Volume, Treble, Middle, Bass, Reverb
Channel 2: Gain, Volume, Treble. Middle, Bass, Reverb, Boost non adjustable
Effectloop with mix pot (parallel/serial)
Available as head or combo with 1 x G12H (thinking about 2 x 12 bluedog)
Channels and boost are switchable of course

I hope I can finish it for sales to the Tokio fair in November

You will have problems with a ultra clean in a loud rock band.
For this situation we have enough other models.
The solution will be to mike it up on big stages.
You can switch between totally clean and lead because
the lead volume is adjustable.

Hmmmmm, Assuming the combo will be the same size as the einstein combo by buying the schmidt combo i could use both seperately with an AB. or stacked, either through 2 speakers............ orrrrrr both through two speakers using a tonebone/headbone switcher......... gosh, evil thoughts.....

Imagine an einstein/schimdt mini stack!!!!

:aww:
Don´t go for a very saturated sound on this one, please! There are some of us who are matured musicians and at this stage we are more into tasteful music, rather then ultra ripping metal. I guess it would be nice if Diezel will come up with something little diferent this time around. But, if it gonna have character, and craftmanship for which Diezel amps are known for , it will be killer!
Think vintage, please!

It is vintage sounding, no ultra high gain. Gain, enough of it IMO. And vintage with that Diezel vibe.

Because all Metal is tasteless and immature...?

No but there's tree amps for this style in the diezel range of product. I think that a more vintage oriented amp is lacking. ;)

Arg why did I learn this amp was in project ONE day AFTER I sold mine ? I will have to wait five months without any decent amp ! :aww:

Are there any information about its dimensions and weight ? To compare with the 50W combo.

You are only waiting 5 months for a Diezel?! I waited 49 years for my first Diezel. ;)
