As most of you know, I'm in the process of switching over to the Line 6 Vetta II.....ok you can stop laughing. :D

I have ALOT of irons in the fire as far as music goes, Between the "cover band", Original Band, Writing, Recording, Gutierrez, and the Forums. I am attempting to do something I havent done in a LONG time.

I want to TRY to avoid swapping out amps once a month, and get this Vetta, tune it up to what I can be happy with, along with my Randall RG100ES, that I'm ALWAYS happy with, and concentrate on playing and writing/recording. Avoiding GAS at all cost.... :) (yea right)

So this is my plan, who's placing bets as to how long it will take me to get back to my normal self, and sell the Vetta?

I'm REALLY hoping this will work, I need to stay away from the forums as much as I am on them.....

we'll see.

You seem to have a turn-around time of 2-3 months with gear, so that's my guess.

I saw Seymour Duncan use a Line 6 combo at a museum function jam where he was the honored guest. He sounded great at small club volume with the rest of the band. I was really shocked, but Seymour is an excellent player.

I've ridden the GAS amp roller coaster as well. Usually, I end up dialing every amp to sound like me....so, in the end, it doesn't really matter what I've got as long as it does the low-mid gain thing fairly well. My wife doesn't understand the "syndrome" that I sometimes get. I tell her: it's my way of getting some "strange"....since I can't score poon anymore, it's gotta be new gear. :) Anyway, good luck and enjoy the practice....the technique always seems to get better when I'm playing more rather than typing and searching in forums for a better "sound."

Yea, I've really got to work on my playing, on my original stuff, I can play tight as hell, but I havent played covers in years, and I've got my work cut out for me.

The main reason for going with the vetta other thaan coping the tones for the covers, is my taste in tone changes so often, I'm hoping having so many in one amp will curb the need to switch amps.

for me...it took owning a cobra, 5150, mark III, valve jr, and a pod; so i could stop buying crap and worry about my playing

of course i'm not trying to buy a recto right now on e bay or anything like that tho :D

Im sure the Vetta II and RG100ES will do everything you need, just switch back and forth between them and you wont get bored of them too quickly!

BTW i got my RG100ES! Its fucking awesome and it sounds great. I was surprised, to my ears it doesnt sound solid state but more like a boosted JCM800 with tighter mids and bottom end!

Im runnin it Dime style with a Furman in the front end as a boost, and it nails that tone!! :D :rawk:

Yep, the RG is an AWESOME amp, always has been, just gets a bad wrap because it's solid state..

But I'll tell ya, my Randalls have always been reliable, NEVER had a problem with them. The old ones are built like a tank. and sound FANTASTIC!

This thing seems extremely well built! I just need to replace the knobs on the pots because the previous owner had broken loads of them and replaced them with incorrect ones thats all.

Im very impressed with the tone, iv been playing it as much as my Cameron recently which says alot!

i think the vetta will be cool as long as you are playing in the cover band. for all out metal and rock, i haven't found anything to replace my rg100's yet. i just bought and sold a 5150II a couple weeks ago, and i'm dying to try out a soldano avenger. i know how it feels to think that there's something better out there, and chase tone, but, i just try a new overdrive, or put an eq in the loop when i get bored with it.

If I could find someone willing to sell me a Mark IV for $1000, I'd nix the Vetta in a heartbeat. The Mark IV is my all time favorite amp. but money is REALLY tight, and all I'm gonna have is what I get out of my RM100.

But I think (hope) the Vetta will pacify me until I can save up for another Mark IV. :D

to get my Juggernaut.....

otherwise I'd still have it.

I hope not.

What made you get rid of the PODs?

If you used those PODs with a tube power amp, I'm not sure how much better you'll like the Vetta. Then again, I've always felt the Vetta sounded completely different than my PODxt through a tube power amp. That said, plugging my XT into the power amp of my Guytron can get some CRUSHING metal tones. Absolutely CRUSHING.

Of course, I've always wished the PODxt could do the amp mixing thing that the Vetta could; I never understood why Line6 didn't include that feature...

I have been playing on my 59 Guild for like 15 years and more. I found an amp that works for my gig and use alot of preamps and pedals to satisfy the gas issue. I think swithching guitars and pedals has worked for me to date. Been heavy on the strat for about a year now and that plus the 59 does it all. I don't plasy as a professonial so my needs are a bit different than yours. I play in church but we rock so I need to cover all bases as far as tone goes. I think it's better to settle on an amp that is reliable, light, and tubes. Thats what has worked for me. By they way me wife bought me the 59 for $42 at a estate sale.

I would have sold you my Vetta II for cheap...I never touch that thing.... And, personally, I think it's going to be even worse - since the Vetta is literally, infinitely tweakable.
