Hi Diezel Noob here,

I've just picked up a Herbert and, unsurprisingly to you converts, I'm completely blown away - and believe me I've had a lot of 'boutique' amps.

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody had experience of using the G System with a Herbert? It looks as though it should be an excellent integrated midi controller/effects unit.

Cheers,

Neil

It's probably the only "multi-fx-unit" that does the Herbert justice.

I have a g-sys and it rocks, as does the herbie.

I run a decimator through the switchable loop and the g-sys through the serial, had to adjust levels but it works like a charm.

Are you using the G system to switch channels on the Herbie with no problems - if so I can feel more GAS coming on :D

Until you've heard it with an Eventide

Hmm...not sure about that, but then again I have never been able to test those things...you're talking about the H8000FW, right?

You got it. Switching via midi, no probs at all.

I'd shoot for a used one, picked up mine with 2 eb jr expression pedals for $1150 and the thing was mint.

Good hunting! :)

Is that how you run your Gsys/decimator?

Decimator through switchable and Gsys through serial?

nope, i got the decimator with buffered out option. so here goes

guitar-decimator, buffered out decimator- g system in-gsystem to front of amp-serial send to decimator-decimator -g system - gsystem to serial return.

basically everything in serial, thats what buck at isp recommended me anyways

i got the stereo mod, with an extra buffered out its on the isp webpage, like i said buck thought this one would be ideal but i forget that herbie has so much versatility when it comes to setup, yet again Peter is the best

I have a Herbert with a G System....LOVE IT!! Switching is a breeze! I really couldn't ask for a better setup!

for more effect routing options and better effect quality get a G Force.
you can't run the G System in a parallel loop setup. It won't work properly... doesn't have a true KILLDRY option like the G Force or even the G Major does.

better effect quality is questionable, the routing options are there on the gforce though.

For me the g-sys was the way to go, of course you can buy a midi pedal and toggle effects etc with a gforce but the gsys has this outta the box. Everything is laid out from the get go, no guessing.

Not trying to hijack this thread but this is relative...

I'm getting a Herbert tomorrow (Diezel noob) and I have a G Sys that I currently run through a Mesa Road King but since there's no midi in the RK I use an Amp Gizmo switcher which goes into the RK pedal line-in and I can assign channels for 1 button ease from the G Sys.

I'm assuming I can accomplish this by going straight into the Herbert's midi from the GS and whatever channel the Herbert is on when I save a patch in the GS will be the one assigned - yes?

Can't wait

Mark-O,

No relay swithers needed, just go midi from the G-Sys, it's a piece of cake.

Thanks!

Pretty much works as I described then? I only need channels switched.

Have been looking forward to getting one of these for a while.

Hope I'm worthy.
