Had a work trip last week to the North East and was able to hook up with a couple of killer people who I've interacted with over the years but never had the chance to hang out with in person....
First up, the one and only Kage.....my first time ever in New York City and there couldn't be a better tour guide. Rode the train in from my
sisters place in Cornwall, got off in Grand Central Station. Walked outside and immediately was in awe. This is a real City.
Walked up to Times Square and saw Vince Sansevere:
Moments after the above was taken he swept kicked those poor girls in the head
Called and woke Kage up at 11:30 a.m and got a taxi over to his place. Got to check out the infamous GMW Floyd Pauls - killer guitars:
Jammed a little bit through the mini Rig of Doom, HOM Certified levels of Gain
We needed beer and food...Kage says "lets go up to Coyote and get a cold one..." I have no idea what he's talking about....turns out it's the Original Coyote Ugly, and of course Kage knows everybody....needless to say by 1:30 we were well on our way to being tanked
This place is classic...the bartender chick is pretty freaking cute, and drinking shots right along with us....three pints and three shots of Jack later she's up on the bar....
Then these other chicks got up there and decided they needed Coyote Ugly t shirts, but you need to trade a bra for one....
I've got a couple of other shots, need security clearance from Kage to post
So now we're buzzed and need food...Kage takes me to this place around the corner, I followed Kage's lead and I order this :
I just about ate the whole thing....needless to say I didn't eat anything else the rest of the day....
Then we were off to a local store Luddlow Music to check out a Hamer Korina V, which of course they had already sold We did play a stoopid overpriced Peter Florence 59' replica, a way cool Florence 1/2 Plexi, and an Bruno Underground 30 that had some of the best clean tones I've ever heard...oh yeah, Kage played a Tele too
"WHAT THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS PIECE OF SHIT ??? WHERE THE FUCK IS THE FLOYD ROSE ??? THIS BIATCH NEEDS AT LEAST TWO OVERDRIVE PEDALS IN FRONT OF IT !!!!!"
I will say that as far as employees who know what the hell they're talking about and actually help customers this might be one of the best shops I've ever been in. No bullshit from these guys. Heh...about 6 blocks from Kage's house and he didn't even know they existed, he'll be back though
We left, got a taxi....dropped Kage at his place and I headed back up to Times Square....this was a classic scene:
Full break dance fight...I wouldn't have believed it if you told me about it...these guys were pretty freaking good
Rode the last train out of the city and had the pleasure of having the stinkiest old guy ever insist on sitting next to me.....packed train
Next day I cruised back up to CT and hooked up with Digijams Scott...
Hung out and jammed with him in the Dungeon of Doom...he tried to win me over the the MKIV dark side but its not happening His Hamer Monaco is KILLER.
Digi and his family are GRADE A 100% AWESOME. Scott made the best meal I had on my entire trip. Here he is burning meat, drinking beer, and talking to J-Dub at the same time:
After dinner I got the full guided tour of his town cruising around in his super bad Mustang, car is balls to the wall. Beautiful area he lives in, hard to believe it's so close to one of the biggest cities on Earth.
I just have to say that Kage and Scott & Family are some of the most incredible people I've ever had the chance to hang out with. The level of hospitality they dished out was World Class - these guys know Aloha even if they don't know it
Huge thanks to these guys for making the end of a hell week just killer. There's some great people lurking on these forums, I connected with a couple of good ones
