new metallica song, good sound quality

I actually kinda like the first new song. It definatly needs some work, but it's a good start.

I was actually in Seoul and at that concert. (Tool totally kicked their ass that show)

However, the soundboard recording really doesn't do Metallica justice. I thought that live it came across as much more old school and heavier.

I still think Kirk sucks though

Not good imo. Better than St. Anger. I'm kinda hoping this is a work in progress and there will be less woooooooh yeahs and maybe more of what happens at 2:20. Lars needs to quit with the random banging.

i think dave re-issued a toute le monde in respect of metallicas recent record haha

ok this is out of order for metallica.

See now that one sounds sort of like Justice-era. The intro riff after the lead-ish dealies is pretty damn good with the syncopation and the main riff ain't too shabby either. Prechorus is pretty good too. Actual chorus sucks though. I can deal.

Just my opinion but ....

I haven't even watched the vid ... but I already know ...

they are friggin posers ... plain and simple .

They were the best thing that happened to me musically when I was a teenager . I think I was 15 when Ride the Lightning came out . And I was full blown by the time I bought Master of Puppets ... ( grabbed Kll em all inbetween

Not only did the music blow everything out of the water .... they were just ordinary metal heads ... no glam , no makeup , no girly friggin lyrics ..

and they got to the top of the world doing it ... They didn't need the Black Album to do it ... they were selling out huge venues with " One " video out . Who else was doing that ???

Don't get me wrong ... I've heard great riffs here and there since .. but Bob Rock helped turn them into something they always preached they would never be ...

IMO the riffs and songs on the Black Album were very good just not " raw " enough ... and " Nothing Else Matters " just ruined it for me ..

It's one thing to get slow and melodic( in a Black Sabbath kind of way ) but ... :o

Maybe James just needs to get back on the sauce

i still haven't given up hope, that they'll produce one more decently respectable album

well ... hookin up with Rick Rubin was definitely a good start !!!

First off , and I know that I am going to take some heat for this but I really don’t care lol :D I have always and will always hate Metallica. I hated them in the 80's and I hate them now with the exception of a few tunes. That said, I find it hysterical that they sound more like an 80's hairband now then they ever did in the 80's. They have become everything that they used to rag on and hate in the 80's. and it's making me laugh my ass off. Say what you will but they have become some of the biggest hypocrites rock has seen.

I will never take anything away form them because they really did create a genre of music but they were never my cup of tea.

all IMHO. Flame away.

No flames here, you nailed exactly how I have felt about them and how I feel. I never liked them and never will and I still am shocked that Kirk Hammet has 9 freaking ESP models.....WTF?!?!?!!?? That bitch hit the band and fanboi lotto like no other in the history of music.

Hypocites is still not saying enough for those asshats.

I couldn't agree with you more ..

I found their music during probably my most influential time of my life ...

14 to 17 I guess . And they were the kick in my ass that got me started playing ...

I will always love the first 4 albums ... after that , there are a few decent tunes I've heard but ...

not to blame it on him but ... they went to shit once Cliff died . Everyone knows at least 80% of AJFA was written while he was alive

after that it was the Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley show ... I mean James and Lars

I like em  , but I am not one of those who think everyone should like what I do :P

And I actually see some potential in those songs. We shall see.

Metallica is my favorite band of all time. They changed the way I thought about music when I got my grubby young paws on No Life Til Leather way back when and have been a big part of my musical progression since.

James was THE reason I picked up a guitar well over 20 years ago

As far as the leads go, you could replace Kirk with anyone you can think of who you think is better and I would probably still think 90% of them should be taken out of the song. I rarely hear leads that do much for me from anyone. Sometimes they become part of the overall song and THAT is awsome, but that is VERY rare.

I'm the same way ( am not one of those who think everyone should like what I do )

Back in the 80's I was in a hairband but I hung out with a ton of guys who were Thrash metalheads. They used to rib me all the time about not liking Metallica but I always stood my ground :D

I'll agree with you 100%. They were an acne prone dudes band in the 80's, pure dirt. I saw them open up for a couple headliners during the 80's, guess what? No hot chicks in the audience  Just angry distorted heavy licks with pictures of toilets on their shirts. I can't stand that dirty singing either with that annoying growl. I saw them open up for Ozzy back in the 80's and I was like WTF is this crap?

Sup Fratello
