I see conflicting opinions on what type of wood Eddies original superstrat was made of? Anyone know for sure? Anyone play one of the new replicas? IS it heavy or light?

Ive always heard that it was regular ashwood but I could not confirm that at all!! The guys at Performance guitar told me that it was regular ash back in 89 so I kind of took there word for it lol.
I have guitars made from both woods and the regular ash has a shitload more boat to it and girth. My swampash guitars are all bright and snappy.

More "boat" to it? Sorry dude, I only lived on the east coast for a year and a half when I was 11. I don't know all the lingo. I speak Californian now. What does "boat" mean in reference to guitars?

Boat= More bottom end. My Ash bodied guitar has more lower mids and bottom end and is less bright then the swamp ash.

Thanks. I had to type "Canadien racial slurs" into Google to find that one. It was either that or beaver-beater.

Thanks Ralph. I like my guitars to have some boat to them. Hard ash it is!

I always thought it was made out of Alder…and that it was a real fender body.

I always heard it was a Charvel or Boogie Bodies ash body.
