I've been looking for everything I can on this guy.
Great tone, and my style of playing!
Wow... I've heard him mention before but never really knew who the heck he was until a few days ago... Whitesnake etc...

John's been one of my top influences since maybe 6years ago, he is unbelievably good and his tone is probably my alltime favorite!!!

His tone back in the 80s was all Boogie MKIII Coliseum heads and Jose modded Marshalls :rawk:
 
I guess this is sort of spam... John's last 4 albums (Bad Boy Live, Nuclear Cowboy, 20th Century and Loveland) are all available on most digital download sites like iTunes & Napster

The first Blue Murder cd is my alltime favorite cd!! Its awesome!!!
 
Wow, he has some good tone which I must admit I've been trying to get myself (and I almost have got it, thankfully). I can't say I'm a big fan of his soloing stuff, as it's just not my thing. He's still a good player!

I love Sykes!! His guitar playing smacked me in the face the first time I heard him!!

Man this talk about Sykes makes me wish my MKIII was back from repair! Its at the local tech's shop here bein looked at and then hopefully fixed. Havent had a call from the guy though, so i dont know if hes got round to my amp yet.

It went bang a while back around april, but i had a holiday in may and various other things so i didnt get a chance to have it fixed!

Fingers crossed, nothing too bad happened..

I think so too, but the short heads are crammed so friggin tightly its hard to work out what the hell blew or stopped working!! Hopefully the tech can sort it out for me. Anyways im lookin forward to getting it back, i have a fresh quad of Sovtek 5881's to put in it!!! :cool:

The tunes on this album still hold up today...Syke's playing on cuts like "Gangland" is just ripping.... :rock2:

Look how young he is on the album cover shot, guessing about 18 or 19?

Yeah , not my cup of tea. I prefer Sykes with the Boogie tone and ripping it up. (not that he didn't rip it up in Tigers.. because he did!)
I also like his vibrato much more when he used the Boogies and his use of the hangtime from hell lol :D
