The 'Screaming Blue Murder' Live in Japan is done with a Triaxis and a Strategy series power amp (John's tech back was Mark Schneider, same with Petrucci).
The 'Bad Boy' Live has the Jose Marshalls.

My favorite Sykes record still remains 'Thunder & Lightning' up to this day.

How did you find out about him using the Triaxis and Strategy on Screaming Blue Murder? That disc sounds to me exactly like his Jose Marshalls, but just EQ'd differently in the mix..

Scott, I watched that vid 10mins ago but decided to post the crying in the rain vid instead!

BTW, took my old and (t)rusty RG507 and played it for 45 mins today! Since last September, after buying the RGT3020, I've only played it twice for maximum of 3 minutes! It fitted my hands like old gloves. Strange thing is that the high profile of the Edge didn't bother me at all now. I seem to have changed my picking technique.

It'll most definitely get more playing time from now on...

Yep, you guessed it, GAS for a RG550XX has landed.

I've read somewhere (English Guitarist I think) an interview of Mark Schneider discussing on Petrucci's rig and mentioning he was working also with John Sykes.
Furthermore a triaxis can be seen on some pics on the CD jacket.

So... I have d/loaded Blue Murder Live Japan ...
John Sykes - Bad Boys...Live
Great stuff!! (I paid for it all)

Is he using Boogies??
Great tone... EXACT opposite of my Bogners...
Clarity, H U G E tone, cutting, nice sizzle!!
It's the perfect frequency for an electric guitar!

Keith
Admit it, Keith - you're also a softie :D

You also must get "Loveland". Amazing songwriting, orchestration, songs. I love this album as much as John's heavy stuff.

He's playing at a festival in Holland, I'll be there for some other acts mainly but I'm curious to see him once in my life. I'll be there to see Marc Ford, Paul Rodgers, Joe Bonamassa and John Mayall. John Fogerty is the topact, GM plays before him.

Bospop Weert ? Saw the ads during the Arrow Classic Rock festival

Giga.

Yep... All is well here, except that I have a 14 year old 110lb problem and is female. Teenagers!!! Ohhhhhhhh man.
If I can just get her thru the next 3 years without getting pregnant, or overdosing, or choking on her own vomit etc etc etc ...
Sex, drugs and alcohol...
It's soooooo hard bringing up kids (especially girls) in this day and age!
She's killing me, Olaf.

Keith

Mine is almost 10 yrs now and I really do feel your pain, Keith.
Good luck and strong nerves !!!

Good to hear you don't have your head in the sand AT ALL about it though Keith  That's the sign of a good parent, IMO. Best of luck :D I have no doubt my sister nearly drove my parents to insanity when she was a teen

I know John had a rack with a Triaxis in it, but it also had a Dual Racktifier in there too. I think that was the backup rig incase his Jose modded Marshalls went down though.. iv never heard a Triaxis get even close to those kinda sounds! Im 99.9% sure that was the Jose modded Marshalls on that one, just EQ'd differently in the mix when they made the cd.

That's seriously tasty. If anyone wonders why Zakk gets bagged on so much they need to watch that and see how tasteful a fast player can be.

Probably you're right but back in 94 everyone was raving about Mesa stuff (great marketing strategy) and Mark was known to be the best tech when Mesa rigs were concerned. Personally I like his tone a lot more on Bad Boy Live and on Whitesnake Live in Rio. I'm not a fan of Mesa. But on recordings they can do whatever they want.

Yep Loveland is a great record and has also nice pics of his LP Standards.

Yeah man, you could be right there! I only thought it was the Jose's because it sounds like the bad boy live tone, but EQ'd in the mix differently.
