I'm just curious what the average age for this is around here.

I was 20. I'm 24 now. So I have a massive 4 years of guitar playing experience.

I was 9 when I started seriously, and I played drums long before that.

I started playing around 14, I saw my dad play Jimi Hendrix all the time. So I popped in the instructional VHS tape while he was at work, learned it, and played Manic Depression for him when he got home. He took me out the next day and got me a Strat! :)

Now he hates me because I play metal

I have no hands.

Call Caparison. I think they might donate some of their machine hands to help you build hand made guitars.

I want a weed whacker attachment and an LCD clock built in.

I think I started when I was 18. I'm 26 on the 20th, so I'll have been playing guitar for around 8 years... man, I didn't realize it's been that long :)

And, of course, I still suck  Just not as much as I did when starting out!

I started playing after seeing The Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1964--I was 11, I bought s cheap Silvertone guitar from the Sears/Roebuck catalog. It was around $99.00. Then I upgraded to a Japanese KENT guitar at 12. Little over $100.00. Strings were 1/2 inch from the neck--made my fingers strong. The irony is that I end up cripple on the left side of my body at 54--GOD works in mysterious ways.
