HOLY Frijoles. Senor Van Halens amp is a "Made in Mexico" product. This will be a no go for the cork sneeeefers.

And how will the workers assembling the amp in Mexico be any different than those assembling the amps in Corona, Ca?

They'll be paid less...which which works in my favor! :D

I think the 5150 III clip in the first post sounds pretty fucking fantastic!

Good thing it's made in Mexico or it would cost 25k like the guitar! :scared:

For that kind of coin, they should be employing Americans. Cutting costs and passing the savings on to Eddie, I guess.

Hopefully there will be some better chassis shots floating around...it doesn't look too bad I guess:

It looks like all 8 preamp tubes are on one big ass PCB and the powertubes are on a smaller sub-board apparently.....

I'm guessing all the control knobs are mounted on the big PCB as well, can't tell for sure though but it would be nice if the pots were mounted on a smaller PCB "strip" separate from the main PCB.....

Might we see yet another amp coming into Thumps life with the 5150 III? Should we wager on this one Thump or not? :D

How come some people have not posted in this that are really excited to try this amp

About who makes the amp..................you are buying an object that just sits there and not a Ferrari or SUV that is to protect your kids while climbing to the mountain top McDonalds.

Anyone yelling about Mexico...go pick an iron up and start soldering to figure out why ;)

The side handles have an exit slot for the built in taco maker

I can't wait to try one personally, wish there were more good clean clips that's the big issue for me :)

Yeah that one vid with the cleans was pretty bad but I am sure it was that the guy did not dial anything in and those hot ass Crapson pups :D

Maybe it'll make it sound bigger, but it can't touch the dynamics and smooth lead sound this amp produces...and I love my Peavey 5150.

Cool, I was hoping for an answer like that !

I can't wait until JB buys one so I can hear some clips
comparing a new 100W cameron and the 5150 III.

Thanx

Typical Fender, it's probably going to be a nightmare to work on just like the other Fender stuff.

Mids 2??? Pull those up to 4 at least. With the other tone controls at 5 and 6, you need at least 4 mids.

Think that's bad? Look at the guts of the Marshall JVM410H.

I really want to try the New 5150III. There were a lot of guys saying that it sounded like a typical 5150 but I wasn't really hearing that in the guitar world video demo. That said, I hate to say this, but I guess its a matter of time before someone mentions the price. What I mean is that the JVM took a lot of heat because of a $1750 pricetag and that amp offeres so much more then this amp does in features. I'm kind of wondering why the JVM got such a backlash because of price and this amp isnt especially when they are asking a few hundred $$$ more for less features. I guess only time will tell !!

This is the sweet spot on these amps...mids 2-3. I'd run them at 3 if I wasn't already playing through v30's, which is a mid boost in itself. Trust me, even Eddie runs them this way, and he helped design them.

This amp would be at least $3K if it were made here. I'm glad it's not, I looked at the inside of my amp and it looks very tidy inside. You don't have to speak English to build a good amp.

If it sounds good, it is good...just as long as it's reliable.

Damn good work, and congrads on a killer amp!!

I got my head on the 28th as well :D :D
...and getting the cab soon

Have you experimented with any tubes yet? I have been doing some pre-amp swaps, got the amp to resond better with pedals, channel 3 in particular.

I also did a cab shoot out between the EVH, and Ubercab, 2 G-Flex 2x12s, an early 70s Highwatt cab and a early 70s Marshall cab... The EVH cab sounded very, VERY much like the old Marshall. A tiny bit more lows and a tiny bit tighter. Fender certainly dailed the amp to the cab well.

The flip side of that is that you are encouraging manufacturers to build as cheaply as possible as long as it's reliable.

You are sending a signal to the industry that you don't give a shit about build quality, only reliability but you will be charged higher prices anyway.
