Hello,

Here's a question for Einstein users and for Peter.
I notice a big différence of level between mode 1/2 and 3 on the first channel. Mode 3 is louder. So for me, mode 3 is not usable, and it's a shame cause it sounds very good.
Is it normal, or did I've a problem with my Einstein ?
Thank by advance to everybody.

Why isn't it useable?
It has a volume, a gain and a master pot.

Because the level is too high compared to mode 1 or 2. To have a good clean sound using mode 1, the gain must be low and the volume high. And when switching to mode 3, the sound becomes very high. The second master is the only solution I found to avoid this problem.
I just want to know if the louder volume on mode 3 is the same on every Einstein, or just a problem with mine.

If You have the gain pot low, the increased gain will
also increase the volume.
Turn the gain at 2 o clock and the difference disappears.

I ever stated the Einstein as two channel amp !
I never recommended the switching mod !
The mode select is an just an option to adjust
the amp for musicians style !

It´s a two channel amp without midi.

Best,

Peter ;)

Thanks Peter,

But with the gain turned at 2 o clock, there's no more clean sound when switching to mode 1 :aww:
The problem is the same with or without the switching mode.

I know it's a 2 channel amp, but it would have been great to have a clean, a crunch and a lead sound.
All the modes are so good :D

Gibson Les Paul Standard.
- Bustbucker pro neck
- Bare Knuckle Nailbomb bridge (don't like the original bursbucker pro bridge).

it sounds like you need to step on up to a herbert!

:D

I have also a Les paul with Nail Bombs.
This pickup is the shit for distortion but
not good for clean.
This guitar is way too hot and You have to turn
down the clean gain.

Hi ,
i have he same "problem" but it seems that in band the difference is not so important , because as normal , the lead sound must be louder than clean. (but that's true that the difference between mode 1 and 3 can be big! )
Enjoy playing in this great Amp!

Peter ?
You're right, with gain at 2, all the channels are well balanced !!!
And the clean, is good enough.
The more I use this amp, the more I like it
Thanks :D

:o

I love my modded Eini, it's a 4 channel amp, I WANT a 4 channel amp, please don't say it isn't ...

Why is it that I can get well balanced mode I, mode II, Mode III and channel two sounds from my Einstein and control all the nuances using just a Goodrich volume pedal and the volume and tone dials on my guitars? :dunno:

You gentlemen need to watch the type of pickups you decide on for these amps...really. All the clean and distortion tones are right there without modding the amps, changing tubes, or changing pickups.

If a particular tone is desired, and the pickup is not giving you what you want, you need to remember that a more hotly wound pickup will lessen the ability of the amp to change it's sound as much.

Also, simply changing V-1 and V-2 to a different company's tube will also change up the basic tone the amp puts out. Try Mullards, Telefunkens, RFT's or other makes of pre-amp tubes to adjust the color of the amps response and tone.

These amps are so flexible that maybe they offer too many available changes for some of you who concentrate on only a couple of styles.

These comments are not meant as a dig on anyone, but merely an observation from reading these posts. Please do not take offense. It is not meant to be offensively taken.

O.K.,

hope I won't be missunderstood -

but seriously from my point of view -

if Peter Stapfer is the BOSS

and Olaf Krampe is the DOC

then C-4 (Stephen) is „the PROF!

and Peter Diezel is „THE MAN!“
(I think, he won’t feel comfartable as Chancellor – I think, but you never know!)

Thanks Stephen for your comments! How do we say in Germany – your postings have Hands and Feet!
