Amp suggestion

In the mean time while Im waiting for an Egnater to pop up I was thinking of trying another head.

What do you guys think?

SLO through a VM cab or Soldano cab

or

5150III through matching cab

Over the SLO? Hmmm since you had an SLO that surprises me. What would make you choose the 5150? The Modena was cool but I wanted a touch more marsahll flavor. It was thick in lower mids than I wanted.

Played it next to a great sounding SLO (and a Modena, and a Wizard, and more), and the EVH held it's own and it's own thang going.



Course I am selling an Egnater TOL50 :D

Oh yea it held, and then some. Also had the best sounding 5150 that I have ever heard there too, and a Egnater MOD100, a VHT Ultralead, and an amazing example of an Ubershall... My friend has a nice collection.

I got the 5150III, it just fit me

You wanna try out a Cornford MK50 ???? ;)

Few things coming down the pipe - this one is gonna have to go rock somebody else's house.

Also have a new VM cab that I'll sell (just scored a TV cab) but won't ship....so.....

Modena 90. CAA OD100 SE+- the new mod version. Cornford Hellcat or MK50.
Did not care for the 5150 III the 2 times I demo'ed it. Just too dark and harsh for my tastes. Channel 2 is really good, though.

Those Cornfords are hard to come by right now. Checked with Tone Merchants today and the next few MK50s coming in are sold. Hellcats are gone as well. Guthrie clips are selling Cornfords, I think.

Wierd. All the clips Ive heard were far from dark. I messed with one for a short time at a lower volume and didnt find it dark either. Need to go play one at high volume before I decide but have a line on a good SLO so just wanted some input.

Well, I'm not much of a 6L6 guy and I directly compared it to the VHT CL100, which I found much more to my tastes -more mids and a bit clearer. It's all relative.

The video clip I posted with Michael Fox dude playing sounds great, though. I was impressed with that. Just did not gel with me, personally.

Thanks for the offer but I'll pass. Im sure the amp is nice but I dont think Im going with an amp I havent played before this time.
