does anyone know what speakers are in the marshall AVT? thinking of upgrading to some celestion G12K-100's. Is it worth it? will it make much of a sound difference? would G12T-75's be better? sorry, too many questions.

i think they're the "shit" model. they're awful.

worth an upgrade? i dunno. EDIT: i mean, by the time you buy 2 speakers, you're well on your way to another amp, especially if you sell the avt.

what the speakers or the amp? just like to point out that speakers are about £40

If you can get those Warehouse CL80 or V30 clones in the UK, do that. Its not really worth putting to celestions into an AVT, unless you are pretty happy with the amp already.

Well, I was going to offer you the four Celstion 75's that I have laying around, but I am not going to ship them to the UK, sorry.

Anybody else need these? CHEAP?

$125 shipped within US, (Bank or Postal M/O)

You are thinking of the G12T- "Hot" 100. The G12K-100 is actually a killer modern sounding speaker.

I meant the speakers in the AVT were shit!

as regards the cost of speakers- you're doing well to get a celestion or eminence for less than £50. Most of the speaker prices you see exclude VAT and postage. You're talking about putting £100 into an amp that cost about £300 (but if there were justice in the world, would cost about £100). I don't think it's worth it, at least with my opinion of the AVT. obviously if you like the avt's tone, it may be worth it. But you could probably sell that avt for £200-£250. Add in speaker costs, and you're in range of a laney vc30, lc30, or marshall dsl401. I know what i'd rather have. It's not even a contest, IMO.

it depends on if you can get the amp to sound good. If you can, then it will blow your mind how good it can sound. It's got great clean, overdrive and acoustic simulator sounds, if you know how to balance it. The volume controls are out of balance. The clean channels louder than the overdrive channels, so i gotta set the volume really low, and od1 is louder than od2. Its difficult to dial in, but once you do, it sounds killer  plus i use chorus.

still a marshall JVM or DSL100 would be nice

G12T-75's are about £5 less.

If you've still got your avt, i can give you some settings.

ok

for od1, set the gain on full and the volume around 7. bass 7, mids 5, treble 7, presence 5(depends on how trebley your pickups are.) then set the dfx mix to 10 and the adjust to 4. set od2 to gain at 8 and volume 10. od1 for rhythm, and od2 for lead. clean eq's and effects are the same. acoustic set the volume to 5, and the other control to 7 with the body switch in. set the clean gain to 5 or 4, and the volume to 3, with the bright switch in. it sounds best with the pickup selector in the middle on your guitar for clean and acoustic. The chorus makes the amp alot fatter and sound better.

i think thats it. 99% certain that's how its set up.

a great inexpensive replacement that i absolutely love are the Jensen MOD series. They are neutral and clear, with just a slight british flavor and open high end. www.tubesandmore.com has them for cheap. i run them in my peavey VTM (marshall copy) and prefer them over GT75s and V30s.
