Man, I forgot how AWESOME this live record is. Hetfield sounds incredible!

I think a lot of the songs worked really well with the symphony. :)

Yeah, definatly. The Thing That Should Not Be is awsome with the symphony, as well as a lot of the Load/Re-Load stuff.

The band was "on" thats night, for sure!

His voice just isn't what it used to be, it's just not as aggressive as it was.

I thought some of it was great and other parts so so. Call sounded badass with the symphony....maybe the best version I have ever heard.

No leaf Clover kicked ass as well.

I guess the softer songs sounded OK but teh distorted guitar parts dont go to well with the symphony.

Can't say I agree, but glad to hear your oppinion either way. :)

I have weird opinions on most things anyway, and I'm very picky with the music I listen to.

as an old-school metallica fan, the LAST thing i ever wanted to hear in my entire life was metallica with an orchestra. they've been dead to me since justice but i have had to listen to this before (friend's house) and could not stand it.

So true, I think I just teared up there

i got the s&m album. it fucking rocks! it gives a new dynamic to metallica's sound.

Some things worked better than others. The fast stuff wasnt always great. I did really like the slower things--Outlaw, sounds great (I like that song LOTS anyway) and Bleeding Me was excellent too. I do thing James voice sounded pretty good for the most part.

I also thought some songs worked out better than others.

However, I do think at times, the orchestra was "overplaying"...what I mean is that I think there was so much background shit going on it overpowered some of the critical parts to some classic metallica songs.

However, I do think the idea was cool...it's worth buying and I wish I had been there

S&M is my favourite Metallica album. Really. I'm not joking.

I think that version of Battery is probably the best I've ever heard it. I really wish that they'd do a studio album with an orchestra with all new music, as I think it would be quite interesting... a hell of a better experiment than St. Anger.

I do a lot of scoring, and would love someday to do a sequel to S&M with some other songs. Fade to Black, The Four Horseman, Escape, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), etc.
