Looking for a distortion pedal to put in front of Epiphone Jr combo for real low TV sounds. Not an Overdrive pedal, I have OCD,SD1,ZW,TS9. They sound good through it but not what i'm after. I use the amp just for TV watching & playing/clean- jazz tones. Sometimes I want to stomp down on something and have a metal sound. OD pedals don't cut it so far.
How is the MXR Dimbag pedal will it get a Dime tone from a clean amp.
Any other pedals I should look into. :?

just get a metal muff. probably the best distortion pedal i've heard.

I like the DS-1 and the MI Audio Crunch Box, but I'm not after very extreme tones.

I really like that second one!!!!!

Have you looked into the Jekyll and Hyde? The Hyde can sound heavy, though some versions have too much noise.

I have been looking at getting a MI Audio crunch box for a while now, but expenses keep going up.

You might want to check out some vintage Marshall Drivemaster or Orginal Guv'nor, they Drivemaster has a bit more gain. An EQ pedal after a distortion pedal is a nice thing.

IDK if its the best, but I really enjoy playing with the one I have.

I'm a huge fan of the vs Jekyll and hyde. Wouldn't live with out mine. But you've got a ts9, and that pretty much covers the jekyll side. You could sell that and pretty much buy a J+H.

Or try out the dano fab distortion or metal. They're like 15 bucks and really sound damn good. I mean I wouldn't gig with one of those guys, but to throw in front of a valve jr for practice, they'd be perfect.

Iv'e got this,

on the way as well as a Wolftone Chaos.

Both are pretty darn good although the chaos pedal may be a liitle much for what you want. The Option 5 is killer IMHO.

I'm relly impressed by the Metal Muff from EH. Great pedal for under 90 bucks. It can do quite a variety of tones from slightly overdriven to full metal meltdown and somehow lets the guitar/amp choice to shine through.

Sounds amazing with single coils into a clean channel of a Fender Twin,Bassman, etc...

LP through a Marshall or similar tube amp is equally impressive. I'm getting a Metal Muff just because they are cheap and sound damn good to boot. I wonder what the muff and chaos will sound like together ?
