circle picking

I read about this in some guitar rag but I have no idea what this means. It is apparently popular with fusion players or something. Can anyone explain?

I've heard of Eric Johnson and Steve Morse using it. Basically, take a pick and try to move your fingers in a circle. Now, apply that to the strings. I don't use it because it's pretty weird, and I can get by just fine with alternate picking and sweeping.

It's just another approach, no different then picking from the wrist.
It's good for cetain things bad for others just like anythin else.

I've heard of it, and Dave Mustaine using it maybe, but it looks like it is a lot of unnecessary motion involved in it.

Our other guitarist circle picks like a mofo. The speed he gets with it is ridiculous, but the notes ring together too much. I'll stick to alternate picking :)

any videos of this, i cant picture it. at first i thought sweep picking.
