Just checking to see what's out there - I've owned several over the years and never should have sold my last one. Ideally, I'll find a late 70's modded Marshall, but let me know what you have...

No reason to contact Jason or Mark and pay $4500. I'll build it for half the price, built by a real engineer, and have all of Mark's designs!
Vai is supposed to send Friedman his Jose amps to check out and take a look inside!! Would be nice to document.

Even if you built a 1:1 copy for 1/2 the price, it would be worth 1/4 of the price. People want stuff built by the people would designed/created them. Replicas simply aren't worth originals. You aren't a household name in the music industry thus regardless of how well you can copy it, until then it simply is not valuable on the market.Equ1nox":2ldgfapl said:Mailman1971":2ldgfapl said:Vai knows the secret hand shake.

Who is Jason - what's his screen name? Weird but I swear someone had posted on this thread to contact them to arrange to have Mark mod an amp - no down payment required. But post is now gone...?![]()

I get that. I also get that if it's not a "Mark C." amp, it is perceived as being less valuable. The truth is that there is a plethora of amps that are readily available that sound fantastic, at similar prices, with less risk. I love almost all of the amps I've heard that Mark has modded. He clearly has an ear, and skills. They sound fantastic. I'd love to own one. But, I can get (and have) a Friedman that has a similar vibe. It wasn't necessarily cheaper, but I could get it thorough a reputable dealer and didn't have to wait 9 months. If there are issues, I have a manner of recourse. Dave actually responds on the forum. That doesn't dissuade me from a Cameron modded Marshall, but it does lower that option on the pecking order... Just my .02...Racerxrated":128vd0n0 said:LP Freak":128vd0n0 said:scottosan":128vd0n0 said:Even if you built a 1:1 copy for 1/2 the price, it would be worth 1/4 of the price. Mark doesn't cut n paste...so whatever circuit anyone copies will NOT quite get there in the end. No two Cam Jose Marshalls are exactly alike, neither are 2 Aldrich Marshalls. He tweaks each circuit individually until he gets what he wants out of it. That's why the Brad era gear isn't quite there compared to the pre Brad gear.
That's why Blades are 'almost a Cameron' as are anyone else's clones.....if you don't have Mark Cs ear it won't be the same.
Lots of great options out there..Dave's amps are great and he has fantastic customer service. I've had one Friedman BE modded Marshall and an early PTP BE 100 that Dave modded later to be more open sounding, less compressed. Killer stuff.IndyWS6":142z69eo said:I get that. scottosan":3betlov1 said:Okay, anyone that thinks there is a standard Cameron schematic is nuts. An exact copy will be an exact copy of a 1 off, but your exact copy probably going to have different iron at the least. Does Mark have "signature" things he does to circuits? Yes. Can you build an amp that will have approximate signature tones? Yes. But I challenge anyone to find 2 mods or even 2 of Marks production amps (not Brad era) that are identical in component value s or even types for that matter.
