PRS Archon 50 - Seems to get alot of love, yet under the radar?? Hidden Gem?

I have a USA 100w Archon, it is truly the best amp I've had. Having owned Diezel Herbert/Hagen/VH4/Einstein, Mesa recto/Mark V, 5150, Elmwood 3100 and KSR Ares, the Archon has them all beat. Yes, the earlier ones came with loop noise, a buddy fixed that in 15 minutes and is now a non-issue. All...

    KSR vs REVV Vs OMEGA

The clean mod was good. It was possible to achieve a Fender-ish clean sound with some tweaking on the EQ and feel-knob. I was hesitant to order an amp in that price range, since I live in Sweden it gets pricey with tolls and taxes, that lacked a clean channel. Even though I rarely use the clean...

    KSR vs REVV Vs OMEGA

Same road traveled here. I had the Ares, the first one with the clean mod actually, and when I compared it to my Archon I just missed some warmth, low end and organic feel in the Ares that the Archon brought. Same when compared with the Mark V. I still maintain that the Ares is AMAZING, just...

Captor X vs Suhr rl IR vs Box of Doom

I've only used the Captor X and I think it's amazing. My amp sounds amazing, can't hear any loss of any kind and as an IR and into my DAW it's extremely flexible. The app on my phone is so easy to use and changes can be made and assigned real quick, when at a gig or rehearsal to be able to...

Diezel Herbert and VH4-2 pedals live questions

If you want to keep it small, but still tubes, KSR are about to ship their first run of PA25 and PA50 which are portable power amps. When playing live, nowadays, I use the KSR Ceres preamp accompanied with the Line6 HX Stomp (for effects and IRs). Have to say, it’s so easy and sounds amazing...

    Smoothest high gain amps?

I have to put my vote to the Diezel Herbert as well. Hade one for several years and the amount of butter I could churn from that amp is unbelievable. Sure, it gets a lot of cred from the metal scene, and rightly so, but it's so much more than that. The Archon is a great amp too, I wouldn't say...

    PRS Archon 100W | VIDEO

Sounds great! The Archon is an amazing amp. Definitively one of the best I've had, and it had several Diezel's and Mesa's to compete with. Totally knocked it out of the park. I sold mine last year, only because I wanted to try KSR and I couldn't afford it unless I sold the Archon. I will...

    PRS MT-15 or 6505mh

MT15 is an amazing amp. I don't perceive it as dark, the EQ is powerful and the presence is great. If you haven't, listen to these two videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFh51Ft8x60 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ab0E3KsFhzA Good hunting!

Low Wattage Mid-gain vs. Hi-gain Tube Amps

It adds a lot of noise and isn't transparent. The Archon is (so far) the best sounding amp I've owned and played (for me). But Mesa, Diezel and ENGL have far better loops.

Low Wattage Mid-gain vs. Hi-gain Tube Amps

The Dover has my interest as well. Although it seems very british sounding compared to Archon/MT15. Seen the video where Misha Mansoor compares the Dover, Invectice and Omega? There's always the option of getting the Archon 50W version :)

Low Wattage Mid-gain vs. Hi-gain Tube Amps

They are similar, but still different. Same family, different siblings if that makes sense. I would say that the MT15 has a little sweeter midrange to it, where the Archon seem to have it's midrange focus a little higher up. If memory serves right the MT15 has a little "wetter" sound, but on the...

Low Wattage Mid-gain vs. Hi-gain Tube Amps

The PRS MT15 is one of the best sounding amps I've played. It sounds amazing with just about everything. When you then add the price into the equation, it's a steal! Like mentioned above, if you truly miss something from the MT15, then there are alot of pedals to sort that out. A big difference...

Which high-end high-gain amp would you choose?

I've owned/played the Diezel, Mesa and the ENGL. I think I would've passed on all of them and bought a KSR really :)

Thinking of a new amp: Mark IV, Mark V, Dual Recto Multiwatt

If it doesn't have to be Mesa, I would try KSR :) A bit of Mesa, a bit of Diezel and I hear some Bogner in there too.
