So there were 2 Kramer 5150s?

I was today years old when I learned that Eddie used/made 2 different 5150 guitars. I just never noticed the differences before.

1. The OG Kramer Beretta shape (offset Strat shape with thinner top horn) that is on Live Without a Net and is the most copied version; and

2. A more traditional strat-shaped one he used for the Panama and When its Love videos, and on tour on 2004. Looks like he had it around 1983. Note the black paint flecks near the input jack area not on the OG.

The 5150 we all attribute to EVH:

He had at least six of them, a couple of years ago the keyboard player for some opening act on the 5150 tour shared a backstage pic with a whole rack full of them. Sorry for the lousy pic, I took a shot of my TV to send to a buddy.

Love that guitar. I was turned on to Van Halen around the 1984 album. So, I associate him more with the 5150 guitar more than the Frankie. One of these days I will pick up the EVH model that they released.

Cool pic! I see 1984 in there which WVH owns now. The others on the left don’t have the space tape though
