recto rev g issue

i noticed at practice that when i turn down my volume pot one of my rectos, the rev g, gets a weird crackly lofi sound, and the other 3 channel dual doesnt. tried changing v1 and v2 and no change. just doesnt seem to be getting all the signal. i turn off my boost and turn down for clean(ish)... a lot.
tried different guitars. same thing. otherwise the amp seems fine and sounds good..

any ideas appreciated. probably going to have to put it in the shop friday i guess. just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this? input resistors? i know jack about working on amps lol.
 
If you're sure it's the amp and nothing external then yes, time for a tech.

If could be any number of things, hopefully something minor and easy for him to diagnose. Let us know how it turns out.
 
I picked up an older 2204 a few years ears ago. Using the knobs on the tone stack would mess with the signal terrible. I pulled the chassis and used deoxit on all the pots cleared right up. Not saying it’s your issue but it is certainly an easy thing to try.

Clean all the pots, input jack and FX in/out with deoxit. Spray the pot opening on the back, turn the knob a few times....with the jacks, spray the end of a cable then insert in/out....that should clean them enough to get rid of any oxidized surfaces. Hopefully that takes care of it. Sometimes, the amp sounds like a new amp when oxidation is the culprit.

will do. i had two dual recs side by side and only my rev g did it. changed a couple preamp tubes to no avail. tested two different guitars as well.

im not. im like the only dude on this forum that cant do anything but change preamp tubes on a had lol. always bypass the loop on a boogie. hate them

on it. good call. didnt even think of it. will post findings.
 
Yeah i cleaned every pot and jack to no avail. Its at a tech now. It sucks because it still sounds really good until i back the guitar volume down. I stead of cleaning up it sounds like a lofi breakup. Also weird symptom…. Its dead nuts quiet, like no noise. Zero. I didnt have a gate on it, and i tried multiple guitars
