tried that Sykes/Bob Rock thing... clip

so i got covid and ive never been as sick as i have last few days, today i was at least able to get off the couch. i been really curious to try this bob rock technique of two amps panned with one chorused and delayed. my playing is stiff cause i never learned this song which im playing wrong, i have no energy to lift any amps so i just used what is in my rack at the moment:
my strat with the 78' into my mimiq pedal.. one signal is going to my Myasnikov iic+ preamp into a mesa 5 band eq into the loop of my 1w randall Diavlo, so its like a 1W iic+ :ROFLMAO: the mimiq'd signal is going to my 5153 EL34 50w blue channel with a DOD delay in the loop. the iic+ is a G12-65 and the 5153 is v30. i have the 5153 bout 7.5db lower.

i think im digging this, definitely gonna experiment more with different amp combos. the mimiq is the coolest pedal ever. how'd it sound in the room?? no fucking clue, my cabs are in the closet and i have a splitting headache and dont want to hear that shit anyway

This is probably the best core tone i've ever heard you do - definitely gotta work on that signal to noise ratio and perhaps some more oomph in the low end? Maybe the loop of another amp beside the little guy? :dunno: :unsure:


Either way, by far the coolest tone i've heard you clip for us

I had the COVID earlier this year and was Sick As F*CK for 2-3 days, then just sick enough to be a pain in the ass for another 3-4 days. Do not play around with this. If you aren’t getting progressively better, go to the ER.

And great clip, btw.

I could swear I had covid last month, but never tested positive. Really sick for 3-4 days, but it lingered for atleast 2 weeks.

Clip sounded good! 👍

yeah, i need to get a proper power conditioner, theres a couple lights in my old ass house that when i dont turn off like i did here among other things cause all sorts of noise.. i got a checklist of things to do when i really want to record if i want quiet lol

i was gonna go for more oomph but then i listened to the original there was already too much i thought lol, i literally spent about a half hour total though before i ran out of energy, maybe tomorrow ill try and do a whole mix

Has a metric ton of character and vibe, I could see it being a tone for a whole record

thank you my dude, now im wondering what combos of amps to try lol. thats what so cool about the mimiq, you get the doubled track from two amps in one take, i dont know why i dont use it more to experiment.

Sorry you have Covid I hope you get better soon. Drink plenty of fluids - I recommend green tea for the immense vitamin c boost. I’m not a doctor but order a blood ox finger clip on meter and if you drop below 80 (or you’re not getting better little by little each day) have someone take you to the ER immediately.

Sounds cool!

My wife and I had covid early on during the pandemic. It knocked us on our asses for a week. Worst bout of illness both of us have ever had, and we don't have any underlying medical conditions. Scary stuff. I hope you can bounce back quick.
 
I think it sounds amazing. I might like it better than the original..blasphemy I know. I can see how a setup like that would have inspired Sykes to rip.

Get better soon, this latest strain is a heavy hitter. My wife's cousin has it and she's laid out as well.

EDIT: I was listening to Syke's rythm not yours lol... still sounds cool though!

I thought that sounded pretty damn good. Some bass guitar would fill out that low end just fine. Felt it had a good balance.

Edit…😂😂😂Fuck..I just did the same thing Capt. Canuck did. I was listening to the Sykes, thinking it was what you did. I didn’t notice the link above it. I was listening to the Sykes thinking ..huh, that noise floor seems Ok to me, hmm, low end sounds pretty good..what are they talking about?

So I would recommend less low end…😁

Mimiq is soooo fun - how did you have that set?
 
COVID sux. It affects everyone slightly different based on your genetic code. Different variants give different results. Maybe a little more tweaking by the tweakers and instead of ~1% population death there will be 10%, 50%. Depends. 🫤. The key is hydration in non lethal virus infections. If you get dehydrated; that’s when organs fail. We have seen this happen to one of our own on RT. God rest his soul. Stay hydrated.
Someone had a mimiq pedal here, can’t remember who ? @JackBootedThug anyway it had a lot of noise running multi amps. (Ground loops maybe). I personally love running multi amps/pre’s, powers and used a Lehle ABY which helps significantly with the noise floor/ground loops. Clip sounds great btw. Not bad for feeling shitty

Thanks, I just use it like an a/b box on “one dub” and send it to each amp

It does add a little noise, I guess I could put a gate in the amp loop to help for songs like this with pauses, but just for jamming if you have multiple amps or experiments like this it’s sooo fun
