I know some people swear by these and others say it's just a gimmick and don't believe the hype these had.

Personally I think they're freaking killer. Not sure if there's any difference between the old model and these but I'm surprised to see them available.

Mr. Rottincorpse owns at least one of these and if I remember correctly he likes it. He is also a man of refined sensibilities and exquisite taste….

Him and Subman Tom were the ones who turned me onto them several years ago. I used mine full mix when I had it instead of using the crossover and it was pretty awesome.

Ngl they seem pretty expensive at $1700 compared to what I remember getting them for before but hey. I'm sure this will make a couple people happy.

I got my first one at cost when they first came out. My bros at Funky Munky in Kansas city hooked me up with a pass to meet up with the ISP guys at a NAMM in Austin and I got Funky Munky to start selling the ISP stuff at their store. The Decimator "downward expander" (read as a "gate") had just come out and my bros said they made so much money selling that pedal that they owed me a steak dinner. Anyway, I ordered the first 600 watt/15 inch vector sub from ISP right there on the NAMM floor from them. About a year later I found another one on guitar center website used and had them ship it to Arlington for only $600. I still absolutely love them. The crossover keeps the low frequencies from the guitar cab keeping it tight, and the volume knob allows for adding the super low bottom end to taste. It's very much like a 3D effect that fills the room unlike anything else I've experienced. The smaller 2x10 unit is cool too, but doesn't have the crossover.

I'll add that the powered sub make amps that don't punch you in the chest have a better feel to them. I'm not smart enough to know how to describe or explain how it works, I just know it does. I'd also note I don't play extended range guitars and the lowest I tune is D standard and drop D from there...so I'm not really using them to their full potential. I'm surprised more extended range guitar players don't use something like this.

Later on when I started seeing the powered full range frequency response cabs show up for the AXEFX crowd, I realized that was the next evolution of this product/idea. Now many pro touring bands are all using in-ear stuff with little or no stage volume. The days of hauling big heavy stage gear are waning. But there is nothing...and I mean NOTHING like plugging into a bunch of speakers and moving some air around.

Still have mine that i bought from Rock Solid Amps back in the day. Use it every day for my lunch brake jam session.

Sounds massive and make my amp stay tight and punchy. Ohhh the 3D effect it gives. Crazy.

I think Misha Mansoor of Periphery teamed up with Peavey to try and make something similar but I guess it flopped. Was right around the time his signature Invective amp was around so I'm just guessing he was involved.

But you're right about nothing like speakers behind you.

I remember in the 90s, one of my first shows the sound guy was the same guy who did the stadium tours in the area. He wasn't very fond of my Crate GX 2200H lol. But we had a great conversation about gear and he told me that all of the big bands have huge subwoofers behind stage that nobody can see, at least back in those days.

@rottingcorpse do you remember the cost of the Vector SL back when they first came out?

Not sure, but I think it was $1200 or so. I got my first one at cost at NAMM. I think it was $800. I have bought three of the smaller ones, all for $400 each. Yes...I have six of them all together. I have issues... and no, I am not seeking help for said issues.

Seems like they're priced accordingly today then, thanks.
