Changing pickup color 🌈

I've got some black EMG's I want to change to white. I tried 2'ish coats of Rustoleum 2x (The one with the primer built in) and some of it is rubbing off only a couple days later. Does anyone have experience with this, will anything work?

For paint you'd have to scuff up the pickup to give the paint something to stick to.

You could try some solid white vinyl stickers for a less invasive option.

Let the paint sit and do some coats of clear coat over it

Both excellent suggestions. Being of the impatient sort I thought I could do it in a day. I’ll take them out next string change and spend some time on ‘em.

Scuff it up with sand paper. Use a plastic primer. Then spray your paint. Paint sticks to primer, primer sticks to the plastic. Paint generally doesnt stick to plastics and metals without a primer.

Clear coat is also a good suggestion to seal the paint + protective coat.
