So I like to live dangerously and ordered an a Mesa Roadster for $1100 from guitar center. I know I know, but the price was too good to pass up!

Wife sent me these when she got home from work. Unfortunately I'm still at work for the next 60ish days. I'm going to have he take a video as she opens it up, taking care to make sure the tubes are good. I'll have to wait till tomorrow to walk her through a play test, as her schedule with work and the kids has her too busy to try to night.

Will update as I get info from her. Glad I accidentally bought the 2 year insurance!

I hate that GC let's inexperienced kids do their shipping.

I find it extremely odd that most packages do not show up this crumpled, from other shippers........including regular individuals that do not ship every day....but this is fairly normal to see from a GC shipment.

I am crossing my fingers for you !!!

Doesn’t surprise me a bit. It’ll probably be filled with brown packing paper

IME it depends on the store...I've had very good packaging from them, but next time it's terrible. There's a Florida store that is consistently bad at packaging. Can't remember which one but I'll just avoid anything from a Fla GC.

Man, that box looks small for a Roadster amp.

Got to ask, what is your job that keeps you away from home that long.
Are you on the Space Station?

:D

Head or combo? I mean the box doesn't look long enough for an amp head and if it is a combo, I'd hate to be the one that has to open the box.

But best of luck mang. And why 60 days?

This makes me mad to see it was treated like that. I would be so pissed! Hopefully it's okay but that thing looks like it was dropped out of a plane at 700 ft!!!

I lucked out when I bought my Epi Les Paul Traditional Pro IV from GC. They went overboard packing it. It arrived in perfect condition.

I bought a Bogner Ecstasy Classic 101BAS a few weeks ago from GC. The box looked like that when it arrived. Amazingly the amp was thoroughly bubble wrapped and arrived unscathed. Tubes were a problem with mine and GC sent me a whole net set of pre and power tubes of my choice, so it worked out. Good luck!

Also, work for 60ish days!?! Damn.

That's just inexcusable. I wonder how many great tube amps these morons have destroyed over the years.

In fairness, that Roadster weighs approximately 700 pounds. I think the Roadster i had was the reason I had to have back surgery.

Actually it's 90 days. I'm 30 in.

I usually work 28 on 28 off but special circumstances this time. I never work over.

Part of the reason I bought the amp was an early Christmas gift to myself because I'm working over.

I've often thought that very thing. I will NEVER order a combo amp from them again. No matter how bad I want it because I don't want to have any hand in the destruction of it. I've gotten several tube heads (hit or miss, but lucky most of the time), but ordered a Roadster 2x12 from them once and they shipped it in a 4x12 box with just a very tiny bit of brown packing paper. Poor thing never stood a chance. By the time it got to me, the side of the box was torn open, the casters were bent and the casing had been cracked in several places. The footswitch and covers were missing, etc.. Took it back to GC, and they listed it again in "Excellent" condition and sold/returned it like three more times before they finally put a current picture of it on the website and sold it "as is". Shady little MF'ers..

If you are able you should always have gear shipped to a store, and then open it with an associate. It just makes things easier, especially with heavy or questionable used stuff prone to damage.

I glanced over that head a few times .... almost bit because of the price .... but I had a Roadster combo at one point that had nothing but problems ...
