Usually hate eminence, but…

Draven dialed this in pretty dang good here. Really like the sound of this. I usually just stick with my celestions but this is gnarly. Definitely different, but I actually dig it.

I have an old Russian-made solid pine Electro Harmonix 4x12 cab that came stock with 25 watt Emis specifically made for that cab (which of course you can't buy separately) and it sounds completely different than the typical Eminence sound.....they sound like Celestions lol

I have one of the first Vaders ever I bought 20 years ago now, I don’t know if they are using the same speakers now but mine basically sounds like it has a head cold all time, just a weird kind of hollowness with a rolled off top, which I’m not hearing at all in these clips, i haven’t plugged into mine in years though and definitely haven’t tried mic’ing it so maybe I’ll put that in my list of things to do. I like the way the lewitt 340 sounds here too which is a mic I have but haven’t messed with much either

Right?!

Unless you've sampled the entire Eminence guitar speaker line, which is pretty massive, I'm not sure how you can say you usually hate Eiminence.

This is like a golden age for guitar speakers. Every major speaker company has some solid offerings it's just annoying that Celestion isn't water treating V30's at the factory yet.

Wait they're not!? I need to go have some words with my sweetwater rep.

You're welcome to your opinion but there are a wider variety of nice offerings than in past times. No, they aren't JBL's but what is? The price of alnico is too high to make them profitably and even at the time they were being made, they were astronomically expensive.

I mean, I’ve played like 6 of them. Pretty good sample size I think.

It does sound really good in the first video. I've tried the Legends and they're great but I am a V30 fan boy.

In my opinion legends are perfect for old school thrash, especially the slower thick riffs. Eg, Raped Ape but he does certainly dial it in really good in that video.

The thing for me is I care about how my amp sounds in the room most. And from what I remember my Legends in the room sounded most like the second video here with the mic dead center cap which isn't ideal for me.

I bought a set of Paul Franklins and they are working out pretty good for me. Not JBL/EV nice but they sound good in my rig. Still working on the break in but for lower volume gigs they have been really rich and creamy which def helps my situation. Wish I could afford to sample their EM12 neos......

The old Krank cabs with the Eminence V12's (is that the right one?) were pretty good! Def a unique sound but it worked well alot of times. I also liked the Texas Heat the Swamp Thangs

I used T75s and V30s for a long time..Then tried Emis...Texas Heat..Manowars..and V12 Legends. I like their stuff because of the high end being more controlled...it allows use of the full range of your treble/presence knobs and not singe eyebrows with the high end. Pretty sure the Legends for the Vader cabs were a special version.

I have a CV-75 in a Mojotone clone of a Marshall 4010 and it sounds fantastic. I will be pairing another CV-75 with a V30 in an Avatar 2x12 I just got and I know it will sound awesome.
