A UPS Driver Stole My Silver Jubilee!

So I found a fairly inexpensive Marshall Silver Jubilee on the Guitar Center Used site and found out it was in need of repair. Well, I negotiated a good enough deal for the broken amp and ordered it.
The store boxes it up, and then a shady UPS driver picked it up. Then the amp mysteriously disappeared!!
The scans show that a label was created, and that an empty box was discarded. That’s all.
The driver never scanned that he picked it up or any other scans.
Calling UPS they had no answers.
The store just had to refund my card and started an investigation they said.
But i am left without the amp I wanted and now some UPS driver is wondering why his new stolen Marshall amp isn’t making any sound!
What I find interesting is how cavalier everyone was about this, like Oh well.

I know if I was sending the amp to someone I would be freaking out about the loss.

Has this ever happened to anyone else on here when shipping gear somewhere?

What I find interesting is how cavalier everyone was about this, like Oh well.
It's because they think the report is fraud, unfortunately. They think if they don't react, you (the fraudster) will give up and so they don't/won't do anything.
 
One of the speaker outs had a loose wire, the amp sounds great. When the man is keeping you down, getta job with brown.

Bot for real, that sucks. I have had stuff swiped that was incoming and stuff swiped that was outgoing. We had an epidemic of mailbox bandits when I first moved out here and I have shipped a couple items that arrived safe but were probably porch pirated. Fortunately they weren't expensive sweet amps. I basically consider USPS a thieves guild in my area.
 
Wow that sucks. I've had things show up damaged but never completely missing in transit. I wonder what investigation takes place on the UPS side as it's not a small package to go missing so easily.

Right?! Like seriously how does a 50 or 60 pound amp go missing even if it was dropped? The store guy who packed it told me they packed it really well in the box, so the nonsense about an empty box discarded is very fishy.
 
I don't remember which service (I think FedEx) has a process in which packages above a certain amount are signed off on as it is handed off between employees during transit. If UPS has something similar they will probably find out who had it in their posession last. Could also have been taken off the back of the truck as they were loading it who knows.
 
How do you know it was stolen by anyone? Yes, I understand it disappeared but maybe it fell out, got separated and they don't know where it was supposed to go? Or something like that. Seems premature to yell about UPS drivers stealing broken amps.
 
I would look at GC, before UPS.

"IF" it truly was taken into UPS possession, then it was probably scanned, and UPS would then have a record of it, but GC telling you that UPS took it without scanning it... is suspicious.

I hate GC, and do not trust them at all.
I would guess that some snot nosed kid / manager realized that it was a good deal, let you pay for it, subsequently "lost it", and are now letting the store take the loss of revenue, while the amp is now on their favorite tech's bench.

I have had GC do some really shady shit with gear. I would ALWAYS look at them before any shipping service.

As an example, I bought a cabinet and called in to have them give some extra checks for confirmation of condition and which speakers were actually inside (stock or swapped).

The kid was being an absolute asshole and did not want to go even eyeball the cabinet.

When it arrived, it was broken HARD. It was clear that there was no damage done during shipment. I mean, one of the cleanest boxes ever from an order...

The damage had clearly been done before shipment. I wish I had photos, I could show you.

When I called in, he had such a shitty attitude and basically almost laughed and said 'yeah you have to contact the carrier and go through them '


I informed him that wasn't how this works. He got the manager on the phone - who immediately was an asshole to me and started talking shit.

I calmly explained the situation. He apologized.

I was fully refunded that same day.

THEY (GC) have to fight with the carrier about the damage and reimbursement, not me you fucking idiot kid.

That stupid kid thought he got one over on me.

Why? Why even do it? I literally just asked that you walk to the cabinet and open the back (opens with latches, is built that way) and tell me what speakers there were.
Was not rude at all.

Anyway, all this is to say that GC can burn to the ground for all I care. Trash service from a trash company.

I have def sort of experienced this with my wife pouring over their used guitars, finding a guitar underpriced, ordering it, and then all of a sudden it was "sold" or "we can't find the item" followed by meandering nonsense excuse.. Granted the items never showed up missing entirely but plenty of the lowballl priced acoustic hella-deals showed them to be in stock until she ordered and called CS to make sure it had shipped. Just management and employees keeping the good shit and deals for themselves until payday hits at which point they can make some bucks flipping the item.Hide them back in inventory where no one can find it. Truthfully I'd probably do the same thing if I worked at that dump.
 
I don’t get GC anymore, I bought a used gj2 guitar off the site, when I got it the neck was twisted, I returned it, they put it right back up for sale. I have seen the same guitar show up on the gc site 4 or 5 times, every time returned to a store in another state.

I remember finding a used EVH 2x12 at one of the ‘local’ stores here in the KS Metro Area where I live. It was practically a ‘giveaway’ price. But it was a haul to that location. Rather than have them deliver it to the store closest to me, I confirmed that they would ‘hold’ it til close of business that day. (I didn’t want them figuring out over the course of a day or 2 that they had the cab way under-priced.) So I gave them my name and phone # and I hit the highway. 45 min. Later, I walk in the store and the clerk tells me the cab had been sold. WTF??? You were holding it for ME - here’s my name and phone #. The clerk said a guy with (coincidence) my exact same first name walked in, identified the cab, gave his name (my name) and bought it. Bullshit. They could have called me at any point and just said the cab was mis-priced - sorry - whatever. But to have me haul my ass up there for a 90 minute round trip only to be shamelessly lied to??? I hate that place.

I’m sorry my man but that’s on you. “Hold it for you?” Should have paid for it on the phone and then gone to get it. There’s no way they’re holding anything unless a manager says they need to for a certain customer. They’re going to sell it as soon as they’re able. Heck, someone online could snag it in the time it takes to get there. Maybe with Mom and Pop’s stuff like that would fly, or one of the specialty, one off stores but GC are as mercenary as it gets.
I worked at a singular store in the 90’s and we would request a small amount to hold it (refundable if you changed your mind). The amount of people that flaked on even a small deposit was alarming. But we had a lot of addicts in that area of San Diego. They’d give blood across the street and then come put $20 down on a guitar and we wouldn’t see them again for months 😁
