I think he said he voiced his amps with a Les Paul with a Motor City 2nd Degree Black Belt pickup.
Does someone know if he talked about his guitars in one of his videos ?

I’d swear he said he is not a Les Paul guy.

Dave hates Les Pauls. He like Telecasters. He usually tests everything with a Tele that only has a bridge humbucker. Might be a Motor City. But he definitely uses the Tele.

In 2011 he voiced my Kitchen Sink JMP w/a Les Paul Custom & old Marshall bottom cab w/ 90's Greenbacks.
Not sure about Tele's or pups.

I think he said he's using all ReWind Electric Pickups in his personal guitars now. I know he put their VH SD pickup in all of the Friedman guitars people were using to demo the Plex at Namm

Is there any video proof that Dave can actually play guitar? I’ve heard him talk at length about what gear he prefers, but have never seen him play. Not one note or E chord. There’s always someone else demoing his stuff. I’ve seen Bogner, Soldano, Splawn, PRS, and Fryette, demo & play. But nothing from uncle Dave. I’m thinking there’s probably a reason.

If I’m remembering correctly, he’s mentioned that he dreamed of being a rockstar but realized he’s average at best an much better at tinkering with amps. I can’t remember if that was on tone-talk or an interview.

My guess is that he’s good, but not Pete Thorn or Michael Nielsen good… and would rather people hear his amps through them

What is Joe favorite guitar?
What is Bill favorite guitar?
What is Mike favorite guitar?

Jason from Headfirst mention on some video now he's seen Dave shred in real life, so it sounds more like he just doesn't like putting his playing in the public eye.

But even if he was a shit guitarist, how many legendary amps have been made by dudes who don't even playing guitar lol.

Not knocking his amps. I’ve owned one for a decade. Point is when it comes to a players preference in gear, pickups, strings, pedals, etc it’s nice to put a playing style/tone with it.
