Langner DCP-1 on Reverb

He makes Langner clone preamps, pretty reasonably priced too. He'd be able to get that in working order for the buyer.
Oh that sounds great! Is he somehow affiliated with Langmer himself?

I know little about Langners, but seems like it is universally loved gear. Can you walk me a bit through it? I got curious!

What I know is only through a few guys here; and more specifically Ted (Exomtl). He knew Todd personally and has had more than a few Langner products over the years. He was one of the first if not THE first to do 4-5 gain stage modded Marshalls. He was from the Bay Area I believe, and his mods are thrash type tone based. He also designed the original ADA MP1.
Gary Holt among others owns some Langners which are on many Exodus recordings. He tours with boosted Jubilees now but won't let those Langners go. Todd Wilcox makes legit Langner preamp clones for a reasonable price too...these amps/pres don't come up often.
Todd sadly passed away 20yrs ago I believe.

Thank you. Sad to hear he’s not with us anymore.

Glad that Todd Wilcox keeping it alive for us, youngsters.

@Exo-metal care to chime in? Would be interesting to hear first hand experience.

If anyone was jealous of me snagging the Langner like… don’t be. Horrendous.
Again, as I said multiple times throughout other threads...

This is really why I avoid buying USED shit. Always a gamble and even the stuff that looks brand new to the overly experienced members eyes here, that product has been opened, messed with, out back together and sold to you.

Disgusting.

While I understand some of your reasoning, you're missing out on great vintage amp experiences. I've only had good experiences with buying used/vintage amps; only issues I've ever had were with 'new' production amps, that the new production tubes (which consistently suck ass btw) red plate and end up taking out circuit parts. This has happened twice with EVH 5153s, and once with my new MT100.

I've not heard any new amp that compares to a good vintage Marshall, Fender, Mesa. Yes we take chances on the seller knowing how to pack....but I've been lucky and not experienced anything like the example above.

Thanks for the good reference guys!
Too bad about the shipping damage but I think it will be most likely salvageable
I have PM'd OP to offer some assistance
Out of the Langners I have tried my favorite is one of the old ones like the one here with sideways tubes. It wasnt pretty on the inside either
