RIP Jim.

Prayer for Eternal Rest (The Requiem Prayer)

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
~Amen~

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine.
Et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Fidelium animae, per misericordiam Dei,
requiescant in pace.
~Amen~

For the Departed O God of spirits and of all flesh, Who hast trampled down death and overthrown the Devil, and given life to Thy world, do Thou, the same Lord, give rest to the souls of Thy departed servants in a place of brightness, a place of refreshment, a place of repose, where all sickness, sighing, and sorrow have fled away.

May his memory be a blessing.

Sad stuff. May not have liked his designs, but the playability of Tylers is nearly unrivaled with how they break in their necks from the factory. I'm glad there are people still there to keep the brand going, but it's sad seeing such a famous builder who helped shape 80s session guitar tones leave this world.

Amen to that.

RIP James Tyler. Only a man with a serious vision can make guitars with such ugly headstocks (jmho) and be unrepentant about it and still succeed. Says something about what kind of guy he was and what kind of quality he was known for. I always respect a man with uncompromising vision.

That was my issue with his guitars as well, kinda reminds me of a rapper who can't help but mention his own name 50 times in a song. Unnecessary and a bit daunting.

Anyway, rest in peace young man.

thanks for posting this Carl but man that hurts. the creator of the greatest electric guitar i’ve ever played and the only guitar i currently own. two of my friends have purchased Tylers after playing mine and everyone i’ve let play my guitar over the last 20 years has always been blown away by the feel and tone.

Jim was very kind to me and was instrumental in orchestrating the acquisition of the used/new (long story) Tyler Classic strat i bought in 2005 for what was quite literally a deal of a lifetime. he even personally fine tuned the action to my preference the day i picked it up at his shop, tweaking it on his bench and going back and forth with me until i was totally stoked.

looking back on that moment it’s kinda like going to leo fender’s shop and having him adjust your 62 strat for you .

nowadays my son often jokes about running me off the road so he can expedite inheritance of my Tyler because that’s the only way i’m letting it go.

God Bless Jim Tyler and family and staff,
and on behalf of all of your fans around the world, thank you for the immeasurable moments of joy you’ve directly contributed to due to your craftsmanship and passion.🙏🙏🙏❤️

LOL Even in death that headstock gets brought up! Well, that headstock will live on.

If you play a Tyler you'll forget about it. Amazing guitars. Not worth what they want these days 6K+ is insane.
My two are just about 10 years old and still like new.

Not worth it? 😯

Well, the first Tyler I ever bought was thru Eddie Burman at Indoor Storm. Around $1800.
The 2 I got in 2015 were about 4K.
Now they are 6 and 7K. IMO that is too much. Too rich for my blood anyway. Not worth it in as much as a 7K Les Paul isn't worth it either.......to me.
Got you, I thought you mean some flaws. 6-7k is not cheap at all.
