A n all time master blaster, but that pedal seems to take the edge off his sound..doesn't have the same attack I'm used to for him.

He's still the master and my biggest influence, but I really really dislike how "homogenized" his tone has become in recent years.
Like, this is a clip from almost 40 years ago and the sound is clearer, crispier, more articulate. Honestly that's one of the thing I found that really separated him from a legion of clones.

I think he used to work more for the notes.. so the Alcatraz years and the early Yngwie, he has just enough for his style but he also plays more dynamically and uses more pauses. Now he has gained his sound up some and cranked the treble. The gain is probably the biggest factor in making him sloppier. ( that said, his sloppy is still god status)

This is really bad. His timing of phrasing is so out of beat...and the tone is all blurry. He was my guitar hero no.1 back in the days. Now I don't even know what to say...

50 watt Marshalls. That's one difference. The other is the DiMarzio HS-3's or the Fat Strats (earlier) Those HS-3-s were perfect.

His playing sounds less complex now, like he's playing slightly easier versions of the old stuff. Of course he's still playing at a high level, just not as high as before.
