great remake on netflix. Dark and nihilistic as fuck. WW1 was probably the most horrible for soldiers.

I've yet to see it but the fact that everyone knows the title suggests to me that it's a classic.

Great movie. A couple historical inaccuracies. Particularly with the weaponry. If memory serves the shotguns they used in the movie were double barrels and not the venerable 97 ( which I just got my hands on one last week finally), the original slam firing, 5 round, takedown trench gun. The Germans so feared this shotgun they threatened to execute any soldier they found with one or even shells for one . General Pershing responded " Henceforth any german caught with a flamethrower or saw bladed bayonnet will be lined up and shot." The Germans as far as can be ascertained never executed an American soldier found with a '97.
