So, EVH 5150 III 100 models?

So I see there are three 100 models:

EVH5150III 100W, list $1,999.99. No resonance controls; 6L6.

EVH5150III 100S Stealth, list $2,449.99; Per channel resonance controls; 6L6.

EVH5150IIIS 100W EL34, list $2,599.99; per channel resonance controls; EL34.


Why the $150 upcharge for EL34?


Nearly all (7) of my amps are EL34 based, and (2) are 6L6 based. Also noticed Fractal and Neural DSP have 5150III models, IIRC Fractal covers all the variations too?

Any other major differences? I'd guess the Stealth has the highest level of gain.
 
The EL34 is a Stealth too.

The Green channel on the 6L6 Stealth is barely even a clean channel and more of a crunch channel. On the EL34, it’s a pristine clean channel.

Besides that, the Blue and Red channels are voiced the same IMO besides the differences in power tubes.

The regular 6L6 has less gain than both of them.

The green channel on my 53S 6L6 100 is plenty clean. But yes it does start to get a little crunchy when the gain is right up
EL34s need more current, so maybe the power transformer has been changed to suit incurring the extra cost

I love my EVH 5150 III 100W
It's a great amp as is, despite the lack of a Resonance knob.
Sounds like it has an internal Resonance set to 1pm.

Every amp I buy: Engl, Diezel, Revv, etc... has to hold it's own against the EVH 100W.
It's that good. Cuts through with body
