I’m tired of apps, PC editors, “alt” knobs, hidden features, etc.

The more gear I buy, the more I want gear to just do one thing well. If I have to use a PC editor or a goddamn phone app to do something simple, I’m immediately disinterested. I’ve gotten to the point I don’t even want knobs on pedals to do more than one thing. If it’s a mix knob, I want it to do that, nothing else. No holding shit down or flipping a switch for an alternative parameter. Just give me another knob that does whatever that other thing is. I don’t want to hold down two footswitches, say a passcode, and shove a thumb up my asshole to access a preset either. I don’t want to open something up for dipswitches. I want everything to be “what you see is what you get”. If my half drunk ass can’t operate your product in the heat of the moment at a gig, I don’t want it. I feel like every damn things that comes out now needs apps, or has hidden features, or has 32 knobs just to dial in a delay, or whatever else. It’s all too damn complicated. I shouldn’t have to read a fuckin manual to operate any guitar gear. If it’s not intuitive to use, that’s bad design, and I’ll send the shit back in a heartbeat.

Yep, I'm starting to hate push-and-twist-to-change-hidden-parameter knobs and I absolutely refuse to buy anything that requires a bluetooth app to access to all of a product's otherwise hidden features/parameters.

The one exception to the "avoid anything that uses external editing software" is the Axe-Fx and its PC editor, because you can edit all parameters from the front panel, and the connectivity is wired USB which has been around forever and will continue to be supported for generations to come, oh and the software itself is excellent.

The luddites feared industrial textile manufacturing equipment would lead to the loss of their jobs so they destroyed industrial textile manufacturing equipment. What are you doing to fill your role in these matters? I feel like maybe a hammer-smash attack on the pedal case at my local GC might be in order. "F YOU AND YOUR GAY DIGITALS!!!!" I could probably get @ChuggNorris in on it. Those pink hairs behind the counter would faint in fear when they saw Chuggy's kentucky waterfall a' comin.
 
I came to this realization when I was putting my big board through its paces. It's why I ditched the UAFX Max comp for the MXR Dyna-Comp and Studio Comp. Why fight with a pain in the ass super size computer pedal when I'm just using it for things I can get with two cheaper, easier to use and more reliable analog pedals?

Even now I'm considering replacing my RV-500 and SDE-3000 for their compact editions, because the Parallelizer I now have means I don't need MIDI control on the pedal itself.
