It's been a week of heavy use - The Bogner 3534 50 watt IS LEGIT!

I've owned a couple 101b's and a 3534 35 watt.... Spent a few hours with the 50 watt version and it was a completely different amp than the 35. The 50 will hang in a loud band no problem. Always amazed at the comments about how much more massive the bottom end is in some of the 100 watt amps regardless of brand ABC. That's great and its undeniable, but whaddayagonna do as soon as its out of the house and on a stage in a mix and everybody is telling you to turn the bass down because you're stepping all over the actual bass player and fucking up the mix ?

The 3534 50 watt is killer, I would buy one in a moment at the right price.
That's a great point about low end.
I am fine with a 50 war head.
I did have issues with my EL34 Shiva being too polite and lacking aggression, but that's it.

Yeah the Shivas I had needed the presence way up and that solved that. For sure its one of those use your ears instead of the eyes things (wouldn't normally turn the presence u that high)

Nice, and it handle itself against other aggressive British amps?
Would like to check out a Splawn Nitro, 5150 Stealth and Bogner XTC 50.

Just got the 3534 50 watt with switches and am going to try it on a gig tonight. Initial thoughts, and sounds pretty awesome but does not have the low end girth of my 1997 101B or even my Diezel Paul which has the most low-end of any 50 watter I have played in my life. The Paul sounds huge.

I do like the voicing of the 3534 50 though so I'll see how it does on the gig. Its chance to remain in my stable will be based on how well it does its own thing tho. If you buy it wanting it to be a substitute for one of its bigger siblings you will be disappointed, kind of like you don't buy a JTM 45 if you want 1959SLP....

So it has to survive on its own merits

^^^^ have you played the 50w xtc without the extra switches to compare it too? Let us know how u make out with yours.

Trying to compare a 50w version of any amp to its 100w sibling will always throw up variations. The 100w is just more amp.

I’m interested to hear how it fairs at a gig and if it hangs.

Played it at one gig that was just bass, drums, and trumpet with a singer. I thought it sounded awesome, it has a really nice midrange that made soling fun and sounded rich and complex. The clean had plenty of room left on the dial. Either the blue or the red tho were up to about 6 on the master (gain a bit lower and saturation switch on.) I'll have to try it with a full band to see how it cuts. Played an outside show the next day with two guitarists, keyboardist with a Nord and a Moog, Bass, Drums, Harmonica, and singer. Much much denser mix and it was outside. Ended up using my Diezel Paul for that because it has a lot of low-end that I love. I feel the 50 Watt Paul def sounds larger and broader with the highs and lows. At the same time I love the Ecstasy style mids of any Ecstasy I've had. I wish I could get the Ecstasy mids with the Paul's highs and lows together in one amp. Wish I had tried the 50 3534 on the outside full band gig to compare. The guitarist on the second gig played bass on the first gig and said the Bogner is special but the Diezel is amazing.

Overall I love the amp, but need it to put it through its paces more and see how it fairs in different environments. My main thing is wondering if I should return it and wait for getting the rumored 100 or (120) watt that Bogner may release, or see if I can custom order the Pandora. If I could get the Pandora right now I wouldn't bother with the 50. However I love the couple of ecstasies I've owned and the 50 is a welcome variation.

Only thing that was a bit of a bummer is the footswitch came with a short in the cable. At first it didn't work at all but when I jostled the cable close to the footswitch all the sudden all the stuff inside the ecstasy started changing really really fast as the signals were all coming on and off from the footswitch. The amp however was in A1 condition.
