I sold all my stuff a while ago, so I turned out fine. In a buying mood right now, scored a couple of pretty decent axes. Hoping to score another one soon, and I'm also eyeing an amp that has been sitting without a buyer for years now.

Just like a boat...

The two best days owning a Harley...the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

I really shouldnt be so harsh on Harley, rode one for years with no issues other than maintenance and I do my own...

Day I brought her home.
Through an unexpected turn of events, I ended up with two of them. Finally gave up and sold the older softail to a family friend, though I took a bit of a hit on it.

The deuce was my dad's bike for over a decade, back surgery forced him to give up riding, so I scrounged up some cash & bought it from him. At least it can stay in the family for a few more years.

It’s been my experience that the people who ask the most questions, go back and forth, or do goofball trader and cash offers are always the flakes. The guys who really want something know it’s worth and won’t bullshit around. I straight up ignore the tire kickers. I’m not going to have an entire conversation about what I’m selling. You either want it or not. I have pictures. I’ll answer reasonable, legit questions.

Alottttt of this. It goes back and forth with "negotiating" then it gets off topic suddenly they're asking me what tubes & bias I recommend for their amp and telling me stories and sending me pics of their old gear they had 9 years ago. Almost seems like an effort to hypnotize me into just sending them the amp and eventually I'm just like uhhhhhnhn

I want to hear more about this lucrative deal 👀

Well, that particular guy ended up going over the top by throwing in a Dan Electro Fish-N-Chips pedal to really sweetener the deal so...

Needless to say the Herbert is on the way to him now and I eagerly await my new rig. 🤝

🥲

The used gear market seems to be very strange right now; people are asking 80-90% of new price for used items although that very item is still being produced. These listings are up for months and months. Someone hasn’t notice the covid gear price madness has ended? Unfortunately very many people are in trouble economically currently.

I worked with a guy that bought the Deuce when it first came out. It was a cool bike.

Edit: I never thought there was anything "soft" about a softail...

Exactly this, and if you list something for a good price it's still hard to move it where I am. I've even accepted offers that are kind of lowballs to get something gone and the person flakes or admits they don't have the money the day we're supposed to meet up - pisses me off.

The other thing that totally sucks about Marketplace is it doesn't restrict your results to the area you set it to when browsing or searching. I restrict to within 40 miles of where I am or something and it still throws in listings from as far as two states away. SO when I list something, I get a bunch of messages about it from people whoa re too far away and too stupid to realize it. In fact I get more of those than anything else. I inform them of how far we are from each other and they say "We could meet halfway..." naw, I'm not setting aside a whole fucking day to meet up with you and sell a $600 guitar or trade you for your shit.

Exactly. Bogner XTC101Bs go for 4250€ new here. Last December I noticed a mint one for sale for 2150€ about 500km from me. I contacted the seller that if he still has it on Friday that week, I’ll drive there to fetch it. I ended up driving 1000km and the trip took me 11h but I got one of my dream amps. 😎 The price was too good to be passed up…

Aaaaand now there seems to be a mint Marshall YJM100 for sale at almost same distance for a good price. Must… resist…. 🤣

As a hardcore bass fisherman, I'll always have a bass boat until I'm unable to fish anymore. I get the saying but it will never pertain to me. Back on topic. I hate selling shit online. Haven't done it in over 10 years and I can only imagine how bad it is now. I've bought a good amount of stuff on here and reverb, but I can understand the seller's point of view. Too many tire kickers, low ballers, people that make a reasonable offer only to back out when you accept etc.

I got lucky and sold an old interface I had the other day, because someone posted on marketplace they needed one.

I still have a handful of things I need to move though, and they're not expensive, but no one seems all that interested.

100%. Or when people ask to measure the output of pickups. Stfu the specs are posted on the website for this guitar. Go look it up. If you're worried about a minor variance you're a sociopath who over analyzes everything and I'd rather send you a video of me lighting the guitar on fire than selling it to you
