Interested in just the regular Jackson USAs. Not the custom shop guitars, just the regular production models.

How do these play? Does anyone have one that they could tell me about?

I hear many good reviews about them... never tried them before but i have tried many old Jackson usa select series sl2h ... plays well generally if ya could find a well used at a good price...

I have played one and loved it, but honestly, I have never played a jackson and not loved it. I have a custom select and the attention to detail isn't there. That doesn't really bother me, though. I set the guitar up, redid the electronics like I always do and the thing just feells RIGHT. The guitar is an extension of me. I also had a korean made one and i have a $250 jackson mini that feels cheap as hell, but i sometimes grab it and slay on it too. If you aren't like crazy about fit and finish, I would jump on it.

i have a $250 Kelly made who knows where with i believe a compressed and glued sawdust body, paint flaws all over the place, is light as a feather, but damn.. i had my dude whos a master setup dude put in some invaders and do his thing and its just awesome now, just jackson neck profile is super comfortable for me. i cant imagine a usa one not being good

I used to have both an SL-1 and a DK-1 from the pre-fender days, and I have to say, fit and finish were excellent. The binding, frets and the overall playability were excellent on both guitars, which is a completely different world than the import Jacksons that I have played.

The thing is I could not gel with the neck on the SL-1. It is a bit wider and more D-shaped than I imagined. I am more comfortable with standard C-shaped necks, like on a Fender Strat or LPs with a 60s neck. The DK-1 was far more comfortable to me, and I really should have kept that one. It just depends on what kind of neck you like.

I had 2 early 90s USA Fusions and a early 2000s USA Kelly. Fantastic guitars.

I just wish the Fusions had non-Jackson pickups/no weird circuits. If it was the J90C and a couple regular sing coils, it would've been fine but they had some weird circuits that just didn't sound that great and I didn't want to fuck with them.

I'd love to find a later 90s DK1 (HSS) with Duncans, and I think that would be about my perfect guitar.

I´ve had a lot of USA Jacksons, some of them Select USA production models instead of custom orders, and they were all ranging from very good to absolutely excellent with not a single issue between them - but I haven´t played anything newer than about 2005. I would definitely not say they lack in fit and finish, that´s for sure.

Have an 87 custom shop SL2, a new SL2, a Jackson custom shop B7, and in the past had a RR-1T. I mean Jackson’s are incredible, there’s really not much bad you can say about them in my opinion. They are some of the absolute best playing guitars on earth to me, and to many others. The craftsmanship is incredible, they sound incredible, they have the clout they do for a reason.
