that Ola warhead video got me wanting to mic my Jaguar up, and i havent played my vh140c in forever so it was time. this is my shit jackson kelly with invaders, my chrion boosting my vh140c and a unidyne 57 on a jaguar. random generic riff made up on the spot. sounds pretty dimebag'ish i think, tone really is 70% speakers

Nice !!!

I bought an old gray carpet-covered Randall 4×12 with Jaguars, and it kicked ass. Got it at a pawn shop for about $200.. I had just bought a brand new Marshall Valvestate 8100 head and needed a cab.

The Ampeg 140C is definitely more quintessential Dime Randall S/S tone, it doesn't have the slight tube compression that I hear in the Laney clip.

Both sound great and when you add them together they cover all the bases!:2thumbsup: I like the Laney as well.

Since I sold my 88 Randall RG100ES I still miss that tone at times but I can get pretty close to my old Dime tone with Eq'ing my Splawn Modded Marshall just so and running a VFE standout out front and my noise gate but it still misses that S/S crunchy grind that rides the notes, the Splawn just has tube qualities to it..... it's hard to explain but the difference is there when you play and hear them.

I have always heard the old Randall Jaguar speakers sounded like bassier versions of a V30 Celestion is this true? How do you hear them?

Didn't Dime go to Vintage 30's later on?

The VH-140C is more the quintissential death metal tone. The Dime tone is the rg100es or century 200 with a couple EQ's and a gate up front.

I believe Dime used both Jaguars and V30's because they made those old Randall cabs with either Jaguars or V30's. He mixed them I believe, but am not 100% sure.

they are fine cabs, i gigged with this one, it survived all sorts of abuse. i still need to get a 8100 to finish my SS collection

id say they are a little lower mid focused for sure, to me they are kind of a happy medium between T75's and V30s. ill try and do a comparison of all three when i have a minute

i have the century cab as well with the G12-70h's or whatever that ive read he used, that cab sounds good too despite most people hating those speakers

Kick ass as usual. Def liked the second one better with the Laney

Not a big fan of box dot com. Is there a reason you like them? Hopefully you are going to say something like - less compression or loss of quality.

they blend nicely together quad tracked being kind of polar opposites tonally. ive been using box for as long as i can remember and never heard anyone complain about it, whats wrong with it??

Not so much a complaint bro, it is just that there is nothing about the url link that tells me it is even a music clip. It is just very generic :dunno:

The only reason I open them is because it is you and I trust you. Does that make sense. Like, for Soundcloud it is a safer bet that it is going to be music and I then I can see that it is music pretty quickly. But don't go changin' just because of me.
