Finally sold the Diezel Herbert iii🥲🥲

To me it’s when your pushing you amp loud and get get it to roar . Like using way less gain from the preamp . So you don’t have so much compression .

I dunno bro.

My gain was usually around 10-12 clock on channel 2 and between 9-10 clock on channel 3. I typically dial less gain than most and prefer less saturation in favor of more clarity.

It also sounded better with the channel masters up a little and the power section brought up to taste. I tried both extremes and everything omin between.

Very cool amp.

Just not my favorite voicing.

I'll be real with you...
It was a disappointing 4 grand.

I just kept going back to the marshall beside it.
And prefer the archon voicing to the Herbert.

I think they are massively overpriced.

But I did scratch that Diezel itch. Yay.
I also actually prefer the white face versions.

You’re not allowed to say that last line.

IME all of the Diezels I've owned have some of that lower mid thing going on, that includes the Hagen. The mid cut on the D-Moll is centered at 430hz and if you use it sparingly, it really works great for taming that area. I'm starting to believe Diezels are just really responsive (picky?) to pickups, and that what they truly want in order to sound their best is lower output PAF types. That said, they're still one of my favorite brand of amps of all time and I still need to try the Herbert at some point.

Yeah. I want to play a vh4, herbert, and big max. I think i would like all of them

I'm slowly working my way through their entire product line. I've owned 4 so far, and I'm thinking the VH2 may be next later this year after I recoup some funds.

Vh2 is the truth. Let us know how you like compared to vh4. It has a very nice voicing. Should have just made it a single channel

If I understand correctly, it's a slightly higher gain/modern/tighter take on the VH4 and that sounds like what I wanted out of the VH4. I pretty much lived on channels 2 and 3, so I'm fine with a 2 channel version.

Going through a thing now with my Diezel's.... where I'm just not quite enjoying them. I have the Hagen, D-Moll, and a 2001 VH4.

I'm tending to prefer my Dual Rectifier, 6505+, and JVM at the moment.

Getting a Mesa Mark V next week.... might flog the VH4..... not 100% sure.

Thad’s wild . I once thought I’d sell my vh4 but I came too . Keep the vh4 sell the others

Let the diezel bug go and if it loves you and you love it... it will come back to you naturally.

💀

I never boost an amp and definitely love it's natural voicing.
Ive heard your clips here and am happy to read this.

I keep buying OD/boost pedals and I never use them.
My amp thru my PS2 into 2x12 2061 cab is glorious.

Not that I run the gain as high as you, my JTM45 at 6-7 on volume, bass down to nothing and the help of the PS2 she sounds great.
The dust on the pedals is getting heavy...

Appreciated reading your opinion on boosting...

Same as @ChuggNorris, no boosts for me. Nothing against anyone who does, I mean do whatever you like is my motto but I just prefer getting the gain and tone shaping out of the amp. I've never even used an EQ pedal except for a volume boost.

I'm like this for two reasons, I grew up on amps that you had to have OD's. Had all the standards back in the day TS808's, 9's, Boss OD's, DOD 250's etc... What we all wanted during those era's where amps that didn't need them. Then they actually start building amps/rack pre's that didn't need them and it was heaven. Now tack on my OCD - I'd spend a fortune going through OD's as I'd have to have everything under the sun.

Way more easier on me to have amps that do not need them. Luckily my favorite amps don't need them.

My hb's and P90's clean up so well with the volume knob.
Im not a high gain player, so the amount of gain I achieve thru my amp is great!
No need for more.

I step on a pedal, and I hear the pedal.
Transparent or not, I hear it.

On the other hand, a very subtle reverb and delay can be wonderful...

The other site got my buying OD's, Im just to stubborn to sell.

Edit: Id like to add, as much as I like my amp, I would like to do a mod to tighten up the bass. Id use a little more gain if it was a little smoother. by 6 on the volume pot, the gain gets kinda messy.

My experience as well. I was dead set on getting a used D-Moll and the guy who was selling it, offered it at an insanely low price too (€900, around $1000 USD), but after thoroughly playing and tweaking it, I left without the amp.

I couldn't dial out that low-mid congestion/wooly saturation and I purposely didn't bring a guitar with too high output humbuckers either.
On paper it ticks all the boxes I want:
3 channels (or 2 + boost)
great, gorgeous cleans (like top 3 best ever!)
footswitchable fx-loop

bonus:
footswitchable 2nd master
mid-cut
24" wide

But alas, the sound was not for me. If only there was a sort of ultimate 24" wide, 50W/60W 'hybrid' that combines the Mesa Mark (including Crunch mode!!!), Engl Savage 60, EVH 5150 and the D-Moll's cleans+ functionality (heck, it could do with the Fryette/VHT Sig:X's Rhythm channel), I'd have my desert island amp. I'm a gigging player, so portability matters a bit more to me than 100W(+) powah.
