Slaving Marshall amps

I am very interested in slaving my Marshall DSL20 head to my Fender Twin Reverb. I love the sound of the Marshall but I want to move more air. I am finding conflicting information on how to do it and if it will damage the amps. Is there a best and safest way to get this done?

I can't help you on this specifically, but I've been wondering if you can just run the FX send of one amp into the FX return of another, so long as the send amp retains the appropriate load. I'm guessing in your case the easiest solution is to just get the bigger head.

It will not sound like a Marshall through Fender speakers, there are ways to do it, but the results are never satisfactory.

I assume more air = louder, that can be accomplished by higher efficiency speakers, and more of them.

This is how I would do it:

Marshall DSL20 -> Load box -> Boss IR-2 -> Fender Twin Reverb

The IR-2 (and the 200) has multiple output options to compensate for different amps. Load it with some great 4x12 IRs, set it to 212 Tube Combo output, and the individual character of the Fender's amp and speakers should be diminished in favor of the Marshall.

As a bonus, you could run effects post-power amp.

I really wanna try one of these…

You could use a Powerstation. Can be set to tame a loud amp, or to bring up the level of a quieter one. That would essentially bump the power section up to 50W or 100W depending on which one you were using.
