Nina Strauss

Her stage presence reminds me of his. Both equally cringy.

I’m not sure it’s a coincidence that I lost interest in Maiden once he joined the band. Just threw off the dynamic in a big way. Couldn’t even audibly hear a plus side to three guitars in concert. Plus his physicality was comically over the top with the rockstar moves which was also not in line with how the other guys were (not including Bruce).

I agree completely. His 3rd guitar brings absolutely nothing to the table. It detracts from the sound, imho. It’s nothing but audio and visual clutter.

So as nicely as I can say this…

Not hot… and I think she gets a HUGE pass on her playing. I’ve seen her live a few times and plenty of vid to know that the average “male presenting” player would get roasted for being sloppy or uninspiring.

Courtney is a far cooler player I think. For me, I just can’t give passes. Good is good. Regardless of who you are.

She’s certainly competent and has made a hell of a name for herself. I’m not mad at the hustle.

So, I've listened to some clips, looked at the video material, some pics...

Looks:
Suppose you're playing some video game where you could design your character looks from scratch and you said "fuck it, I'ma recreate Michael Starr from Steel Panther, add a dash of '89 Sebastian Bach but I'll shift the Male-Female slider maybe 37% to the female side..."... :censored:
She does put in the squats and it shows, so kudos to that, but her make-up choices...oof. o_O

I get it, we all get older, but maybe, just maybe don't use 2005 Pirates' Jesse Jane as a tutorial reference.

Guitar:
I love that S type's look of her sig model. My first 'expensive' guitar back in '97 was an Ibanez S-540FM...I will say I don't care so much about the HSH layout anymore. I can get by with HH or H-S these days. H-S-H makes it kinda cramped for your picking hand.

Skills:
Yes, she shreds. But...imagine Jeff and Kerry taking a couple of lessons from Vinnie Vincent and MAB, and putting in 63% effort. :p

Tons of chromatic stuff, some basic tapping, y'know, the type of shit that sounds impressive to most non-guitar players, and even then there's a certain sloppiness to it.
This is where I agree with several previous posters; she definitely got the job for other reasons than purely being a solid guitar player.

And tone... man... Start listening at 1m09s. o_O

But, all that being said, she does sound kindhearted in interviews, has a nice voice and seems to love what she does. Carry on!
