Super Distortion vs Super Distortion 2?

I have a Dimarzio coupon so I'm looking at Dimarzios.

Guitar is a pretty dark Edwards LP. Looking for a hot neck position pickup. Currently have a Seth bridge in there and even though the guitar is dark, the Seth is still too bright and I'm rolling off the tone control. Never experienced that before and I'm not changing a tried and true amp EQ to make up for that. The 57 classic was pretty neutral in the same spot. Not bright, not dark, not muddy. I just want to try something different with higher output.

Will the SD2 be too bright in the neck? I don't do the chug so I'm not dealing with gobs of gain so I wonder if the inherent extra clarity Dimarzio EQ'ed in there for the rockers will make it too bright with my rig, a cranked Twin Reverb, in a blues setting?

I'm open to other Dimarzio suggestions but I'm leaning towards something more tried and true. I was looking at the Fred but couldn't find any good reviews with it in the neck. I don't wanna go the full gamble rout since I have had several different pickups in there already that are now junk in a box. Just for reference I have a Lollar DB neck pickup in the bridge right now, it kills, and is staying there.

I believe the Dimarzio site breaks down bass and treble of each pick up along with Output ....

I was looking on their site all morning. I was hoping someone might have tried both of these and can offer some additional input since most youtube reviews are geared around high gain rock guitar tones. I did find one guy with an SD2 in his PRS neck but no one doing lower gain with a regular SD in the neck.
 
I thought most SD were used in the bridge, PAF in the neck. If you want something cleaner in the neck look at PAF vintage, or PAF Pro for something a little hotter?

No more PAF's. I have had enough PAF type stuff. The LP is my easy pickup swapping test platform for testing pickups that will potentially go inside a not so easy to swap ES someday.

WB 67’s were the butter on them potatoes man..
Holy hell were they killer in a 335- which was my number 1 guitar for decades.
Also, stock SD classic 57’s are the gravy without the train up in that hollow body.
Word.

Thanks for the input. I got a deep discount on some dimarzios so that's where I'm limited to shopping.....

I have 57 classics in my ES now, they are great, but eventually the goal is a second ES with a little bit different tone using some hotter pickups not usually found in a blues players guitar. So this was all an experiment, a theory that maybe will work and give me something a little more unique from the industry standard 57's....
 
I ordered a standard super distortion this morning. Actually the old lady had ordered me a 59 PAF without my knowledge but I told her no more PAFs so she called and changed the order. After listening to several reviews of their 57 and 59, including one where it was stacked against a 57 classic I def am gonna say the Gibson just sounds better to my ears. Excited to try a super distortion though. I think I can exchange it if it works out that a SD2 would make a better choice. I'm not using gobs of gain so I thought I would give the original a try.
 
Super2 in the neck is actually quite good as a shred-lead pickup to balance well with an X2N or even an Invader.
If you want a neck that does nice cleans look elsewhere. Even other ceramic necks can do much better than the Super2 for versatility.
