Just curious if anyone has tried different speakers in their combo amps. The single combos.
Or if you prefer the factory speakers.

I have a MKIII no stripe no GEQ. It came with like a 80 watt Celestion. If sounds flat. Not the usual popular speakers.

I run mine with the Marshall v30s.The original that comes in the 1960vintsge BV cabs
So good

What about just fattening up the tone with an EQ in the loop? Tried and true, works every time. I do it with all my Mesa's that aren't my Mark IIIs.

IMO- I've tried the stock C90 (pretty good), EV12 (colorless & boring), V30 (better in sealed cabs), T75 (better in sealed cabs), and 75W Creamback (my favorite). Havent tried very many so take that FWIW. I suspect either of the Creambacks could be pretty good.

In "clean" amps I REALLY like alnico speakers, haven't tried one in a Mark combo though.

I’ve done the usual YouTube speaker comparisons.

I was leaning towards the Eminence and the Creamback ?

The Mesa Eminence MS-12 is my favorite.
I came here to say this, it’s a less common one but it’s great. But I also like the evm, although it is pretty colorless but sometimes that’s good

I have owned a couple of MKIII combos and experimented with speakers.

Two alternates that really surprised me are:

Jensen Electric Lighting

Celestion G12T-75

These two speakers give a very usable and desirable tone option IMO..
